In today’s digital world, many people take their civil liberties for granted.

With the click of a button, an internet user can unknowingly surrender their fundamental rights.

And this overseas thought control plot has piqued the interest of Washington D.C. bureaucrats.

This European scheme has internet users everywhere on edge

In recent years, Western governments have dumped massive amounts of taxpayer funds into programs designed to restrict the civil liberties of the people they claim to represent.

The European Union for example has made so-called “misinformation” prevention their top priority.

At first, the European Union took a seemingly delicate approach to preventing so-called misinformation, establishing a “voluntary code of practice” to fight back against what they deem as “misinformation.”

So far, 44 large technology companies have agreed to these codes, under the assumption that they had no legal binding power.

However, this opened Pandora’s Box, as it gave power hungry bureaucrats in Brussels immense power to silence anybody who gets in their way.

These bureaucrats now want to make this “voluntary code of practice” into a mandatory code of conduct.

One of the mandatory codes would require signatories to demonetize any attempts to allegedly spread “disinformation.”

Another code calls for the widespread use of so-called fact checkers on a variety of media platforms, at the expense of the signatories of these previously “voluntary” codes.

When the European Union established the voluntary codes, officials claimed that, “It is for the signatories to decide which commitments they sign up to and it is their responsibility to ensure the effectiveness of their commitments’ implementation.”

Now that they have major social media companies like Google, Meta, and TikTok, signed on, making these codes mandatory remains their top priority.

Many internet users fear that this quiet yet disturbing move will expand the global censorship infrastructure.

With the wave of a wand, unheard of officials will now wield immense power over internet discourse.

This could result in even more people having their posts and comments censored online, even perhaps putting them on some sort of dubious watch list.

The Biden-Harris White House has come under fire for dabbling in social media censorship, after it came to light that the White House worked directly with social media companies to silence certain individuals on major platforms like Facebook.

The European Union’s latest move regarding “misinformation prevention” demonstrates how misaligned their priorities are

Rather than protect their citizens from the many threats they face on a daily basis, many Western governments have made stopping so-called “misinformation” their top priority.

However, investigations have revealed these schemes as nothing more than censorship plots, designed to silence anybody who dares to step in the path of the central government, and the powers that be.

This has stirred up widespread public outrage, with many internet users no longer trusting their preferred social media platforms, turning to alternative platforms that do not work with the federal government or the European Union at the detriment of their users.
