The Washington, D.C., Swamp is preparing for battle with Donald Trump.

Establishment Democrats and Republicans alike will do everything they can to undermine Trump’s second term.

And Mike Lee had Mitch McConnell gnashing his teeth when he called out one Swamp scam.

The Military Industrial Complex not backing down one inch

One of the top priorities of Permanent Washington is funding the endless war in Ukraine.

There is too much money at stake for the warmongers to let that conflict stop.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) flat-out admitted to Fox News host Sean Hannity, “This war is about money. People don’t talk much about it. But you know, the richest country in all of Europe for rare earth minerals is Ukraine. Two to seven trillion dollars’ worth of minerals that are rare earth minerals, very relevant to the 21st century. . .Ukraine’s ready to do a deal with us, not the Russians. So it’s in our interest to make sure that Russia doesn’t take over the place. . .[Ukraine] is the breadbasket of. . .the developing world. . .Fifty percent of all the food going to Africa comes from Ukraine.”

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) stepped down from leadership so he could give his full attention to blocking Trump’s non-interventionist agenda.

McConnell said during a speech at the Reagan Library, “Within the party Ronald Reagan once led so capably, it is increasingly fashionable to suggest that the sort of global leadership he modeled is no longer America’s place. . .But let’s be absolutely clear: America will not be made great again by those who are content to manage our decline. . .At both ends of our politics, a dangerous fiction is taking hold that America’s primacy and the fruits of our leadership are actually self-sustaining.”

In other words, the warmongers within the establishment GOP view endless wars as essential, and they will use any argument necessary to achieve their goals.

For instance, former George W. Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen wrote a 2023 Washington Post opinion piece titled: “Ukraine aid’s best-kept secret: Most of the money stays in the U.S.A.”

So the sales pitch is that indefinite funding to Ukraine is actually good economically for Americans.

A voice of reason in the Senate

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) poked holes in that argument.

He responded, “Great, so Congress is taking money from poor Americans to give it to rich Americans—who happen to own a piece of the military-industrial complex.”

That is it in a nutshell.

The establishment Republicans who have been crowing about deficits for decades are happy to engage in Military Keynesianism because it suits their agenda, and in some instances their pocketbooks.

Trump has made it incredibly clear that he wants to end the War in Ukraine.

That’s why Congress is desperate to “Trump-proof” the war.

Biden recklessly escalated tensions with Russia on his way out the door.

And Permanent Washington wants to send another round of funding to Ukraine.

It will never be enough.

Worse yet, each escalation draws America closer to a senseless nuclear conflict.
