Over the last several years, the United States and other Western nations have dumped massive sums of taxpayers funds into programs specifically designed to limit the freedom of speech.
The pursuit to prevent the spread of so-called “misinformation” represents one of the most disturbing and well-funded pursuits of the Biden-Harris regime.
And Liz Cheney hoped she would get away with this stealth move to hobble Donald Trump’s incoming administration.
In order to prevent the spread of so-called “misinformation,” the White House has used its power to delegitimize and silence their political enemies, employing outside sources to facilitate these alarming practices.
Leftists and so-called moderates like Liz Cheney have hailed these efforts, claiming that preventing the spread of “misinformation” protects American institutions and stops Donald Trump from gaining support.
President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to put an end to this unholy alliance, even threatening to hold people guilty of censoring Americans online legally accountable for their actions.
Fearing a crackdown on their censorship infrastructure, actors within the outgoing administration have started to panic, resorting to sneaky measures to quietly keep their alarming programs alive.
For example, the State Department recently notified Congress that it would shutter the highly controversial Global Engagement Center, an organization accused of facilitating the government’s pursuit to limit free speech online.
Member of Congress Darrell Issa (R-CA) recently spoke out about the GEC, telling The Washington Examiner, “The GEC is guilty of the highest crime an agency of its kind can commit: that it weaponed itself.”
“It weaponized itself in the name of partisan politics, targeted innocent people, and sought the censorship of American citizens. It will not be missed,” the lawmakers from California added.
At first glance this may seem like a victory for the First Amendment, but upon further inspection, this move simply disperses the GEC’s authority and funding to other federal bureaus rather than eliminating it altogether.
Although the GEC will soon be a relic of the past, Congress will need to completely strip its funding if it hopes to put an end to its programs and influence.
After all, the GEC is not really ending, but rather dispersing across the federal government, continuing to censor Americans online under different names and initiatives.
Limiting what Americans can say and see online has become a top strategy for the American left
Political experts have attributed Kamala Harris’ loss to her inability to effectively communicate with American voters, especially those in major swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump and his political movement effectively reached voters all over America, utilizing a myriad of digital media platforms to communicate with Americans.
Rather than try and beat Donald Trump fair and square, the left has instead invested in programs specifically designed to silence and delegitimize Donald Trump and other conservatives online.
The GEC has represented one of the most prominent entities tasked with this dubious practice, and if Congress does not act fast, then the federal government will continue to engage in the censorship of Americans online, even if it does not happen under the banner of the GEC.
