The wildfires in Los Angeles continue to rage, putting millions of lives at risk.
Already, these fires have taken many lives and caused billions in property damage.
But Joe Scarborough’s latest remarks have Los Angeles residents stunned.
Once again, an MSNBC host has been caught red-handed deceiving the American public
Out-of-control wildfires continue to rage all across Los Angeles, with the death count stacking up, and property damage counts breaking records.
As these fires spread, many people across the country have desperately searched for a person or entity to blame.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough for example placed the blame on “slashed infrastructure spending” last week on a segment of “Morning Joe.”
More specifically, the MSNBC host stated, “We don’t know the exact causes for the complete failure of government to be able to protect these homes.”
“I don’t think we can say it’s the smelt alone. We don’t know what it is. But I do think it is going to be like Hurricane Katrina. I mean, the infrastructure has been slashed,” he then told his viewers.
However, these claims have baffled many Californians who pay an insane amount of taxes to bolster their fire readiness infrastructure.
A closer look shows that the Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) budget went up in recent years.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, “On Thursday, a spokesperson for L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, who was budget chair last year, said the city increased the fire department’s overall budget by approximately $53 million in the current fiscal year.”
“However, $76 million – intended to pay for fire department personnel – was placed in a fund separate from the fire department’s regular account when the budget was adopted because contract negotiations with department employees were still taking place at the time,” the Daily News added.
As the Daily News noted, the LAFD’s funding did not go down, but rather up.
The problem is city officials wasted taxpayer funds seemingly on “woke” DEI programs and hires that did nothing to make Los Angeles residents safer.
At first glance, it might seem like the LAFD budget went down by $23 million, but that is because this budget was not approved until the middle of 2024 when the city was still negotiating new contracts.
City officials eventually moved the $76 million that was set aside in a separate budget item once the contracts were finalized.
At the end of the day, the rife mismanagement within the City of Los Angeles – along with the California state government – is certainly to blame for the wildfires spreading at such a rapid pace.
However, it is flatly incorrect to say that the city slashed the LAFD budget, as Joe Scarborough falsely claimed on national television.
Spreading lies and distortions to the public
For the last several years, the talking heads on MSNBC have repeatedly warned of the dangers of so-called “misinformation.”
Yet, these people have repeatedly spread flat-out fabrications to the American public.
Joe Scarborough’s claims, blaming city officials for the LAFD’s allegedly slashed budget, exemplify the radical-far left networks’ propensity to distort the truth.
