Donald Trump has many loud critics on the Left.

Many of them are in the entertainment industry.

But a Hollywood director made one commercial that had Trump smiling.

Michael Bay directs recruitment video

Donald Trump pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in political history to become President of the United States for the second time.

It almost did not happen after a July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The United States Secret Service came under intense scrutiny after shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks came so close to assassinating the frontrunner to become President of the United States.

Popular conservative political commentator Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, said that morale was down at the agency.

However, recruitment could be up after Hollywood director Michael Bay directed a Super Bowl commercial promoting the Secret Service.

CNN reported that the “ad cost an estimated $2 million for the Secret Service to produce, according to two sources familiar with the project. . .The ad time is being donated, so the Secret Service will not have to pay an additional fee. Ad buys during Super Bowl Sunday typically cost millions of dollars, with a 30-second ad airing on television costing up to $8 million this year.”

The Super Bowl is also the Super Bowl for advertising companies because everybody is watching.

CNN added that the “ad’s purpose of recruitment comes at a crucial time, as the Secret Service has been wracked with low morale, burnout, staffing and retention issues. The thrust of the ad showcases the Secret Service’s role in protecting the nation’s leaders and points out the very game the audience is attending is secured by the agency. . .”

Bay was an obvious choice to direct the commercial because of his bona fides as a big-budget action director, and many believe that he is a secret Republican.

Secret Service under the microscope

As for the Secret Service, the agency certainly needs to be scrutinized after the catastrophic failure in Butler.

Democrats have been conditioned to reflexively defend anything that Republicans criticize, but people on both sides of the aisle were disgusted with the Secret Service after the Butler incident.

For example, in light of an investigation into the Secret Service, Sen. Dick Blumenthal (D-CT) told reporters, “I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished, and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on the former president. . .But I think they also ought to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming, to be as candid and frank as it should be to them in terms of providing information.”

The investigation into the assassination attempt has seemingly gone nowhere, or at least the public has not been made aware.

Crooks remains a ghost despite nearly murdering a former and future President.

With Trump back in office, perhaps the American people will finally get answers.
