Enraged Californians confronted Gavin Newsom with this brutal reality check

Seven different wildfires are simultaneously burning in Los Angeles County, California.

Tens of thousands have been evacuated due to the flames and smoke, and at least five people are dead.

And now enraged Californians are confronting Gavin Newsom with one brutal reality check.

Fires are the worst part of the Golden State

Unfortunately for Californians, the state’s mismanagement of fire prevention and forest maintenance has led to devastating wildfires becoming part of the routine.

It seems at least once per year wildfires ravage an area of the state.

The New York Times reported that President Joe Biden wouldn’t allow crucial controlled burns to continue.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles’ Democrat Mayor Karen Bass was visiting Africa when the fires erupted.

And while the fires are a – preventable – tragedy, they’re surely not the only reason residents are flooding out of the Golden State.

New numbers from U-Haul show California experienced the fewest number of new residents.

Red states vs. blue states

In fact, according to U-Haul, this is the fifth year in a row Gavin Newsom’s state has ranked dead last in the company’s growth index list.

“California experienced the greatest net loss of do-it-yourself movers in U-Haul equipment,” a release from U-Haul reads. “And ranks 50th for the fifth consecutive year.”

But the numbers show a very interesting trend.

Americans aren’t just fleeing California – they’re voting with their feet and running away from blue states in general.

The four bottom states in the rankings are California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.

And the next worst state on the list is the purple state of Pennsylvania – with dark blue Illinois just above.

However, the fastest-growing states are all bright red.

South Carolina has surpassed Texas for the number one spot.

After the Lone Star State, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee – with Arizona right behind.

Washington state is the lone positive for blue states.

But right after the Evergreen State, five more red states round out the best dozen, Indiana, Utah, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

When looking at this in totality, it’s clear California isn’t losing its population because of the wildfires.

It’s the leftist policies that create low quality-of-life standards for American workers that are driving families away in droves to red states.

The shifting electoral map

And this relocation trend could cost Newsome and his party in a big way in future elections.

The United States is now halfway through the current census period.

The current trendline will reshape the U.S. House of Representatives and the Electoral College.

The American Redistricting Project keeps a running forecast of how the next census is likely to change the electoral map.

Currently, it’s estimated that only 13 states will have a change in their number of Congressman and electoral college votes.

All the states that are set to lose representation are blue or purple.

California is expected to lose 3, New York 2, Illinois, Oregon, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania all 1.

On the flip side, Florida and Texas are both expected to gain 4, while Idaho, Utah, and Arizona are 1 apiece.

And it could get even worse for Democrats.

On the bubble, California, New York and Illinois are each all close to losing another – with those shifting over to Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia.
