Trump Derangement Syndrome runs rampant in Hollywood.

The entertainment industry leans wildly to the left.

But a comedian regretted one thing he said about Donald Trump.

Jim Gaffigan’s second thoughts on Trump comments

Donald Trump has no shortage of enemies in the entertainment industry.

Among them is comedian Jim Gaffigan.

As a standup performer, Gaffigan is a clean comedian.

But when it comes to social media, Gaffigan gets as foul-mouthed as anyone else when it comes to Trump.

For instance, in 2020, he wrote, “I don’t give a f*** if anyone thinks this is virtue signaling or whatever.  We need to wake up.  We need to call Trump the con man and thief that he is.”

However, Gaffigan recently regretted the divisiveness of his anti-Trump comments.

He told The Daily Beast, “I regret that people think that I was criticizing people that support Trump. . .And that was never the intention. I regret—someone said like, now I can’t follow you anymore and I kind of said ‘F you’ to them.”

Some Trump-deranged people have been that explicit.

Support for Trump was an uncrossable line in the sand for them.

Gaffigan continued, “But it’s weird because I think authenticity is really an important thing, not only as a comedian, but also with your children. . .For me, I don’t regret it, but I also do acknowledge that there are true die-hard Trump fans who probably enjoyed my comedy, but because they feel so passionately will never forgive me.”

Gaffigan seems to have moderated his tone since 2020.

He appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast in the middle of 2024 and was far less hostile toward the idea of people supporting Trump.

Gaffigan takes shots at Democrats

Gaffigan, a Catholic, also appeared alongside Trump at the Al Smith Dinner where politicians roast each other.

Gaffigan also criticized Kamala Harris for skipping the event.

He remarked, “You know, this event has been referred to as the Catholic Met Gala. Twenty-two percent of Americans identify as Catholic. Catholics will be a key demographic in every battleground state. I’m sorry, why is Vice President Harris not here?”

Cheers broke out among the crowd.

Gaffigan continued, “I mean, consider this, this is a room full of Catholics and Jews in New York City. This is a layup for the Democratic nominee.”

He also tagged Harris for appearing on fluffy shows while skipping the Al Smith Dinner.

Gaffigan said, “In her defense, I mean she did find time to appear on The View, Howard Stern, Colbert, and the longtime staple of campaigning, the Call Her Daddy podcast. . .You know what I think it is? I think she doesn’t like me. Chuck [Schumer], do I have bad breath?”

He also took a jab at the Democrats for kicking Joe Biden to the curb.

Gaffigan remarked, “The Democrats have been telling us Trump’s reelection is a threat to democracy. In fact, they were so concerned of this threat, they staged a coup, ousted their democratically elected incumbent and installed Kamala Harris.”

Gaffigan may not like Trump, but he seems to be over his raging TDS.
