Chicago is a city that has a serious problem with crime.
But that’s not the top priority for officials in the Windy City.
And Chicago’s new District Attorney issued one scary threat to conservatives in the city.
New Chicago District Attorney wants to target pro-lifers
Crime is completely out of control in the city of Chicago.
The city is an annual leader for the most murders in the country.
Chicago let criminals run amok after it elected Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx in 2016 who was backed by globalist billionaire George Soros and brought a soft on crime agenda to the city.
Foxx decided not to run for re-election this year but voters elected her protégé Eileen Burke, a former Cook County assistant state attorney and judge, as the new State Attorney.
She’s vowed to carry out the policies that Foxx set in place but she has one change in store for the crime-plagued city.
Burke could target gangs or violent criminals who are roaming the streets but she put pro-lifers in her crosshairs.
She’s launching a “Choice Protection Unit” to target demonstrators against abortion in the county.
Illinois is a state that allows abortion on demand until the moment of birth.
The surrounding states of Kentucky, Iowa, and Indiana have some level of restrictions on abortions or outright bans.
“Illinois has had a 70% increase in out-of-state visitors coming to our state for abortion services,” Burke’s campaign website states. “Inevitably, we will also see an increase in Anti-Choice protesters attempting to interfere with that right.”
Black Lives Matter rioters and pro-Hamas demonstrators in the city weren’t met with the same level of pushback from the State Attorney’s office.
“In order to do that and fulfill the mission of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office to protect victims and uphold the laws of the State of Illinois, Eileen O’Neill Burke will create the office’s first CHOICE PROTECTION UNIT (CPU),” Burke’s campaign website declared.
Burke bragged that it would be the first of its kind unit to protect abortion and served as a model for the rest of the country.
Chicago is a city with tragically misplaced priorities
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office will also train civil lawyers on how to defend the county’s public hospitals from lawsuits by pro-life groups.
“Insidious actors coming from outside the state to stop women from exercising their rights to make choices about their own bodies, free from the interference of government or others determined to stop them,” Eileen wrote in an ACLU survey. “Clinics across Illinois have received threats and endorsed violence. I will stand strongly against such efforts.”
Chicago has led the country in total murders for 12 years straight.
617 people were murdered in the city last year.
Burke is promising to “tackle the underlying issues driving criminal behavior rather than resorting to detention.”
The Cook County State Attorney places a higher priority on trying to target pro-lifers for flimsy charges rather than use her office to drop the hammer on violent criminals.
