Donald Trump surprisingly won a mandate in the 2024 election.

Pundits are still trying to make sense of his big win.

And Bill Maher’s guests were shocked when he explained Trump’s appeal.

Maher defends McDonald’s

HBO host Bill Maher despises Donald Trump, but he also hates the over-the-top “wokeness” that’s devouring the center-left.

Maher has railed against elite leftists who have buried their heads in the sand regarding Trump’s populist appeal.

One reason why the common man likes Trump is because he likes them.

Trump loves America and Americana.

He genuinely likes eating McDonald’s, something that is abhorrent to people in elite circles.

That was evident during a panel discussion on Maher’s show.

The topic revolved around Big Food and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s appointment as Health and Human Services Secretary.

Maher mentioned in passing that McDonald’s was delicious, and his panelists almost bit his head off.

Former CNN host Chris Cuomo, Republican commentator Mary Katherine Ham, and Dr. Casey Means—a health expert who explained the problems of Big Food and Big Pharma on Tucker Carlson’s show—pushed back on Maher’s claim.

Maher said, “I mean, this is not rocket science. . .The food is delicious. . .If I had six months to live, I’d eat McDonald’s every night. And if I ate McDonald’s every night, I’d have six months to live.”

Maher continued, “McDonald’s isn’t delicious? Who we f***ing kidding?”

He made the same point about soda.

“Coca-Cola, also a delicious product,” Maher said.

Health versus hate

Maher reiterated that he doesn’t eat McDonald’s for health reasons, but acknowledges that it’s tasty.

He explained, “I don’t eat it. This is not rocket science, people. I know something’s delicious and I know it’s bad for me, so I don’t eat it. Is that so hard to understand? . . . Let’s not deny that the one reason why people still do this is because people are always making decisions.”

Maher added, “We are doing this every day, present versus the future. If I stay up another hour, I’ll be tired in the morning. But I want to watch this. I do it all the time.”

Maher’s panelists were right that fast food is not healthy, but Maher was correct that it tastes good.

One problem that leftist elites have is that they disdain McDonald’s for cultural reasons.

It’s one thing to be concerned about health; it’s another to have contempt for the people who eat at McDonald’s.

That was one of the problems with Kamala Harris’ Presidential campaign.

The Left touted her working at McDonald’s—even though it was never proven—while also having scorn for the company when Trump worked a shift there as a campaign stunt.

Trump, Don Jr. Elon Musk, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Kennedy all took a photo holding McDonald’s on an airplane, and the Left went nuts.

For instance, late-night comedian Stephen Colbert commented, “Look, I know Trump has been accused and found guilty of many crimes, but certainly none worse than ‘brings Filet-O-Fish on a plane.”

That is essentially the attitude of the Left.
