And Bill Maher lost it when a “woke” Hollywood actor uttered the unthinkable.
Maher runs out of patience with “woke” star
HBO host Bill Maher has become the avatar of the lifelong liberal who is sick and tired of the “woke” mafia running amok.
He had another run-in with a “woke” leftist during his Club Random podcast.
Maher sat for a discussion with Hollywood actor Jon Cryer, who starred in the 1980s classic Pretty in Pink and the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men.
And Maher looked physically ill when Cryer went full “woke.”
Cryer claimed that Kamala Harris lost the election because voters “hate black women.”
Maher began, “Sometimes people say things that trigger me. And of course, we just had the election. And I feel like I—my conscience is very clear. I warned everybody about Trump, and then I warned them about what would get him reelected, which was stupid ‘wokeness’, which is what got him reelected.”
Cryer objected to “wokeness” as the cause of the Democrats’ loss.
Maher continued, “So I feel my conscience is very clear that I told you and I told you and I told you. And I lost fans for it. You know, lots of the super ‘woke’ that, like, I’m not ‘woke’ enough. Yeah, but, like, I think I had it right. Like that kind of stuff is what lost the election from the Democrats.”
Cryer responded, “Maybe part of it? I don’t know.”
Maher shot back, “They have polling on it.”
Cryer added, “Well, I think it’s inflation. I think Americans hate inflation.”
“Certainly was part of it,” Maher agreed.
Maher pumps the brakes on the political conversation
That’s when Cryer went full “woke” and said, “They hate inflation. They hate riots and They hate black women. And They hate trans people.”
The life force completely drained out of Maher.
“God, Jon, we’re not going to—”
Cryer interjected, “Dude, they just spent hundreds of millions of dollars demonizing trans people and that’s disgusting.”
“They don’t hate black—” Maher interrupted. “We shouldn’t talk politics.”
Cryer answered, “Okay. We shouldn’t. I mean, great. I don’t—we don’t have to.”
Maher explained, “And this, you know, I mean I have this kind of relationship with people on the Right also who, like, yeah it’s just going to take so long to even have this discussion. And I, like, I want just like I would like to deprogram them. I feel like there’s things that don’t get in your bubble on the Left that I would love to deprogram, but it’s probably not the place to do it.”
Cryer joked, “Yeah, but you can try it. If you—if that’s how you want to spend your leisure hours, I mean. Deprogramming Duckie. There’s a spinoff.”
Maher knew right away that Cryer had been too indoctrinated into the “woke” cult to have a rational conversation about politics.
Many conservatives and centrist liberals have found themselves in this position many times.
