Democrats are already preparing to resist the incoming Trump administration.
That won’t play out like they think.
And a Democrat Attorney General started one fight with Donald Trump that will ruin him.
California Attorney General prepares to battle Trump over deportations
Blue states and cities are formulating their plans to thwart President-elect Donald Trump’s mass deportation of illegal aliens.
Trump vowed that deporting illegal aliens would be a top priority as soon as he takes the Oath of Office on January 20.
California filed more than 100 lawsuits against the Trump administration during his first term.
The state is digging in its heels about protecting the illegal aliens who live there.
California Governor Gavin Newsom called a special session of the State Legislature to “Trump-proof” the state in anticipation of the upcoming administration.
The California Attorney General’s office ordered state and local agencies like courts, libraries, schools, colleges, homeless shelters, and healthcare agencies to take steps to resist efforts to deport illegal aliens.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta vowed that illegal aliens would still be able to access public services paid for by American taxpayers.
“My office will continue to use the full force of the law and every tool at our disposal to protect the rights of California’s immigrants – and we need staff at these critical locations to do the same,” Bonta said. “We cannot let the Trump deportation machine create a culture of fear and mistrust that prevents immigrants from accessing vital public services.”
California is ordering public institutions not to comply with the federal government in enforcing the country’s immigration law.
Bonta claimed that Trump’s mass deportation plan was “fiscally irresponsible” and called illegal aliens “the backbone of our nation.”
California Attorney General needs to read the room
Trump’s “Border Czar” Tom Homan hasn’t minced his words about Democrat politicians who want to resist deporting illegal aliens.
“You can not help, but don’t impede us and don’t not knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE, because that is a felony,” Homan said.
Former Speaker of the House Keven McCarthy (R-CA) accused Bonta of trying to “make a name for himself” by resisting Trump.
McCarthy pointed to the results of the election as a sign that voters want action on illegal immigration.
“These attorneys general should take a deep breath, listen to what the American public said and understand that immigration was one of the major reasons why Donald Trump won, and it wasn’t a Republican issue, [it was] Republican and Democrat too,” McCarthy stated.
He noted that Los Angeles voted out a Soro-backed district attorney because residents were sick and tired of crime.
“As Attorney General, your job is to protect your citizens. Why wouldn’t you want these gang members, I mean these are ruthless gang members and they have been running the drugs of fentanyl that have been killing your children, why wouldn’t you want them out? I would think that would be your job without having the President do it,” McCarthy said. “People want to see something else happen, especially from this Attorney General.”
California is going to learn a tough lesson trying to protect illegal aliens from being deported.
