Like his father before him, Rand Paul earned a reputation and esteem for his fervent defense of individual liberty.
The morning after Donald Trump’s January 6 certification, he left the world in shock on his birthday, January 7.
And Rand Paul set all Hell in fury with this shocking news after Donald Trump’s January 6 declaration.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was born January 7, 1963. He awoke to a shocking and pleasant surprise the morning of Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
It came from Mark Zuckerberg of all people, the day following Donald Trump’s certification as winner of the 2024 Election.
Zuckerberg was instrumental in getting Joe Biden elected.
But he chose to sit out the 2024 election.
And Zuckerberg made one shocking statement that Senator Paul immediately took to X to share with his followers.
“@Meta finally admits to censoring speech…what a great birthday present to wake up to and a huge win for free speech,” the Conservative firebrand Senator wrote on X.
The new Zuck?
Zuckerberg notoriously poured $400 million into the 2020 election in order to help Joe Biden and the Democrats get elected.
In addition to that, Zuckerberg engaged in censorship on Facebook at the whims of the Washington, D.C., Swamp.
For instance, he helped censor true information about COVID simply because it contradicted Dr. Anthony Fauci.
In the past, Zuckerberg had been resistant to calls for censorship.
When A-list Hollywood screenwriter Aaron Sorkin called for more censorship on Facebook, Zuckerberg countered with a free monologue written by Sorkin in the film The American President.
But after a departure to the land of censorship, Zuckerberg seems to be back in the free speech lane.
Zuckerberg announced in a video, “The recent elections also feel like a cultural tipping point towards, once again, prioritizing speech. So, we’re going to get back to our roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our policies, and restoring free expression on our platforms. More specifically, here’s what we’re going to do.”
The Censorship Industrial Complex kicked into high gear over the past few years with organizations and government-funded entities working to silence people who deviated from the establishment narrative.
Zuckerberg was part of that complex, so his sudden pivot must be viewed with a grain of salt.
Elections have consequences
He continued, “First, we’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes similar to X starting in the US. After Trump first got elected in 2016, the legacy media wrote nonstop about how misinformation was a threat to democracy. We tried in good faith to address those concerns without becoming the arbiters of truth, but the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created, especially in the US. So, over the next couple of months, we’re going to phase in a more comprehensive community notes system.”
Fact-checkers like Snopes and PolitFact are some of the worst actors within the Censorship Industrial Complex.
They exist to lend credence to legacy institutions while attacking alternative media outlets.
Zuckerberg added, “Second, we’re going to simplify our content policies and get rid of a bunch of restrictions on topics like immigration and gender that are just out of touch with mainstream discourse. What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas, and it’s gone too far. So, I want to make sure that people can share their beliefs and experiences on our platforms.”
Back in 2015, Zuckerberg got caught on a hot mic promising former German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Facebook was working on censoring “hate speech” regarding the migrant crisis that was beginning to rage at the time in Europe.
Now he wants to lift restrictions on discussions surrounding immigration.
Zuckerberg also stated, “Third, we’re changing how we enforce our policies to reduce the mistakes that account for the vast majority of censorship on our platforms. We used to have filters that scanned for any policy violation. Now, we’re going to focus those filters on tackling illegal and high-severity violations, and for lower-severity violations, we’re going to rely on someone reporting an issue before we take action. The problem is that the filters make mistakes, and they take down a lot of content that they shouldn’t. So, by dialing them back, we’re going to dramatically reduce the amount of censorship on our platforms. We’re also going to tune our content filters to require much higher confidence before taking down content. The reality is that this is a trade-off. It means we’re going to catch less bad stuff, but we’ll also reduce the number of innocent people’s posts and accounts that we accidentally take down.”
These “mistakes” were not accidental; they were intentional.

I highly recommend you watch all of it as tonally it is one of the biggest indications of “elections have consequences” I have ever seen pic.twitter.com/aYpkxrTqWe

If Kamala Harris had won the election, many question if Zuckerberg would be making this announcement, or bringing UFC President and staunch Trump ally Dana White on to Meta’s board of directors.
Regardless of whether Mark Zuckerberg has had a true change of heart or he just sees where the wind is blowing and is trying to get ahead of the curve to stave off the corrective regulations from the Trump administration, for millions of Americans silenced on Zuckerberg’s platforms, these are welcome first steps.
