Podcast host Joe Rogan has become one of the most important voices in alternative media.
Rogan brings on interesting guests, and talks to them for three hours.
The format allows for him to do deep dives on complex topics.
And Rogan might have just hosted one of his most important discussions.
He recently spoke with Mike Benz, who ran the cyber division for the State Department during Donald Trump’s first administration.
Benz’s main issue has been fighting online censorship.
Benz explained to Rogan in detail about the intricate Censorship Industrial Complex that is being orchestrated by the federal government through various cutouts and organizations.
He told Rogan that Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016 ushered in a shift in focus from the Deep State targeting foreign disinformation to homing in on American citizens.
Benz explained, “After Russiagate, they do this foreign to domestic switcheroo. . .[A]ll these DHS officials, State Department officials, Pentagon officials, completely chang[ed] their justification for why we need internet censorship before Russiagate. And after Russiagate. . .they switched from saying Russian disinformation is the threat. So that’s why the Pentagon’s involved. That’s why the State [Department] and CIA and FBI is involved just saying, well, actually, domestic disinformation is a threat to democracy, so regardless of whether it’s the Russians or not, we need to censor Americans to preserve democracy.”
The initial justification for censoring Americans was so-called hate speech, but that eventually fizzled out.
Plot to turn massive censorship on Americans exposed
Permanent Washington has settled on disinformation and “threats” to democracy as the justification for mass censorship.
Benz explained how the federal government shifted the definition of democracy from the consensus of the voters to a “consensus of institutions.”
So the will of the voters is subsumed by a so-called consensus of institutions because the voters cannot be trusted; they might elect a “dictator.”
Benz continued, “They took this anti-authoritarian toolkit. . .and applied it domestically.”

In a separate part of the episode, Benz showed Rogan a clip of journalists being trained on how to combat “disinformation” from Donald Trump or pro-Brexit statements.
The example that the training session used was a tweet from Trump where he called the Russiagate investigation a “witch hunt.”
Journalists were being instructed on how to counter information even if it was true.

The Deep State knew the power of social media because it had been used to foment revolutions in foreign countries.
However, Trump used social media to great effect in 2016.
That’s when the Deep State chose to turn the War on Terror inward and censor American citizens.
