The Washington, D.C., Swamp wants to sink Pete Hegseth’s nomination.
He’s not going to back down.
And Pete Hegseth just disclosed the Democrat ace in the hole that he and Donald Trump were prepared for.
Pete Hegseth is facing a Brett Kavanaugh-style smear campaign
President-elect Donald Trump nominated Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense to shake up the Pentagon.
Hegseth, a combat veteran with the Army National Guard, is an outspoken critic of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda that’s infected the military.
The Washington, D.C., Swamp is trying to destroy him to keep the status quo going at the Pentagon.
Hegseth is the victim of the politics of personal destruction after a smear campaign that accused him of being an alcoholic rapist.
He said that he was a victim of the same kind of character assassination that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was during his 2018 confirmation hearing in an interview with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
Kelly asked him if he thought he was being “Kavanaugh’d.”
“I had a member, not 45 minutes ago, look me in the eye in private, just he and I, and say ‘That’s what they’re trying to do to you,’” Hegseth said. “‘That’s their playbook. Get ready for more, and they’re gonna make it up, just like they have so far.’”
Journalists have used anonymous sources to make all sorts of wild accusations against Hegseth.
A report in NBC News claimed that a Fox News source said he had a drinking problem but his colleagues at the cable news network denied it.
Hegseth was warned that the rumors would be used against him.
“All anonymous, all innuendo, all rumor, nothing sourced, no verification and they’re just gonna keep doing it, because you’re a threat to them,” Hegseth explained. “You’re a threat to their system. You’re a threat to all the things in Washington D.C., the Swamp, the things that people have rejected. You’re a threat to that, and so they’re coming after you.”
Trump has Hegseth’s six; says he was ready for the fight after this message from Donald Trump
Hegseth said the lesson of the Kavanaugh fight was to never back down in the face of a smear campaign.
“I know that, he knows that, and when you stand firm on that, it’s not difficult to just continue to fight,” Hegseth stated. “So yeah, we saw what happened, but guess what happened? Kavanaugh stood up, and he fought, and he won, and hopefully Republicans have learned that lesson.”
He pointed out that Trump had Kavanaugh’s back throughout the entire nomination process.
Trump told him that he had his back before the Kelly interview.
“Ultimately, he reiterated the same thing this morning. ‘Hey, Pete, I got your back. It’s a fight. They’re coming after you. Get after it,’” Hegseth recalled. “I think he’ll be delighted that we’re talking today and we’re going to do more talking. Because for so long, what was said about me, What has been said about me, it was so ridiculous and all anonymous — we didn’t want to give it oxygen. You don’t want to respond to things that don’t merit response.”
The buzzards in Washington, D.C. are circling Pete Hegseth, trying to destroy him with a smear campaign that’s low even by “Swamp” standards.
