Alvin Bragg thought that he had run out of chances to get Donald Trump.
But he finally found his opening.
And Alvin Bragg launched this horrible scheme to finally throw Donald Trump in the slammer.
Alvin Bragg’s office tries to delay Donald Trump’s sentencing to 2029
President-elect Donald Trump has one final legal obstacle from Democrat lawfare until Election Day.
He was scheduled to be sentenced after he was convicted of 34 felonies that Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg pulled out of thin air.
Democrat Judge Juan Merchan paused hearings in the case after Trump’s victory in the election.
Trump’s legal team moved to have the case dismissed because it threatened the orderly transition of power between Presidential administrations.
Bragg’s office pushed for sentencing in the case to be pushed back to 2029 after Trump left office for his final term as President.
“No current law establishes that a President’s temporary immunity from prosecution requires dismissal of a post-trial criminal proceeding that was initiated at a time when the defendant was not immune from criminal prosecution and that is based on unofficial conduct for which the defendant is also not immune,” Bragg’s office argued in a court filing.
Trump’s impeachment lawyer slams Alvin Bragg’s stall tactic
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley – who served as Trump’s lawyer during his first impeachment hoax – warned that Bragg wanted to treat Trump like a “freak on a leash” over the next four years during an appearance on Fox News.
Turley thought Bragg would want to keep the case on ice for years and come after Trump when’s he out of office.
“The position of Bragg’s office is what I have been worried about and we spoke about it early this morning, that the worst possible scenario in my view is to keep this matter pending during the four years of the administration,” Turley explained. “You cannot have a local district attorney treat a sitting President like a freak on a leash, where he’s just able to say that I will finish this work once you’re out of office.”
Turley said that leaving Trump’s sentencing until 2029 left too much power in the hands of Merchan.
“It elevates the district attorney to a grotesque level,” Turley stated. “It also [sets] this local judge as determining the ultimate outcome of the President of the United States. It doesn’t serve the nation or justice to have that type of lingering question for the next four years.”
Bragg is running for re-election next year and keeping the possibility of Trump getting put behind bars benefits his campaign.
“It likely serves Bragg to serve this judge politically, but it doesn’t serve the nation, and so the question that we’ll be looking at with this new hearing that’s likely to occur is whether the judge will listen to his better angels, and dismiss this case,” Turley said.
Turley said that Bragg would be the “face of rage” if this case dragged out until 2029.
“The worst option for justice and for this nation is to do what Bragg is suggesting, to allow him to hold this leash on a sitting American president for four years. This is — I just wrote a book on how this was an age of rage,” Turley stated. “This is the face of rage. It’s addictive. It’s hard to let go. And they want to drag this out for four more years.”
Alvin Bragg is hoping for a legal Hail Mary to deliver him a jail sentence for Trump four years from now.
