Donald Trump is only a couple of months away from returning to the White House.
Democrats are already in full-blown panic mode.
But a former Obama official made one shocking comment about Trump’s cabinet.
Jeh Johnson speaks common sense
Democrats and their media allies are melting down over Donald Trump’s victory and he’s only the President-elect.
They are panicking because of Trump’s cabinet picks.
Some of the people that Trump has selected are not Washington, D.C. Swamp careerists.
And the establishment tries to destroy anyone who is not establishment.
However, former Barack Obama DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson threw cold water on the Democrats’ freakout.
He went on CNN and quelled concerns about Pete Hegseth, Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, and Tulsi Gabbard, his selection for the Director of National Intelligence.
Host Sara Sidner repeated the establishment talking point that Gabbard was somehow compromised by the Russians.
Sidner asked, “She has spread Russian propaganda. She has challenged the intelligence on whether President Assad used chemical weapons, which the intelligence said he had certainly done. And now she’s in this position to potentially head the high intelligence agency over all intelligence agencies. What does this mean? To you?”
Johnson answered, “Well, I’m going to surprise you a little bit. I don’t think that it is an absolute prerequisite that the Director of National Intelligence be someone of the intelligence community. I also believe that on occasion, it’s a good thing to be skeptical of the intelligence that we’re provided. Those of us who are in a position of making serious decisions, policymakers. . .So being skeptical of what the intelligence community produces can be a good thing. And I’m thinking of the intelligence leading up to the Iraq war, for example.”
Johnson did not give the answer that Sidner wanted on Gabbard.
But it has just become a reflexive talking point that Gabbard is somehow in league with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin.
Ignoring Hegseth’s credentials
Sidner then pivoted to Hegseth.
She asked, “Let me ask you about another controversial pick, a Fox anchor, Pete Hegseth. He did serve in the Army National Guard, but now he is up for Secretary of Defense. And, you know, he said a few things. He has lobbied for people who are accused of war crimes in Afghanistan. He recently said that women do not belong in combat roles. But you have said that you’d give him the benefit of the doubt. Why?”
CNN is framing the question in a way that suggests Hegseth is bad and terrible.
Thanks to decades of feminism, it has somehow become controversial to believe that women should not be in frontline combat roles.
Johnson responded, “I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. . .Because here’s somebody who was well-educated, obviously intelligent, was in financial services, was in the Wall Street community for a while, could have made a lot of money and chose to leave that, put on the uniform of our country, and see combat. So I give him the benefit of the doubt for that reason.”
Hegseth left the military as a Major, earned two Bronze stars, and also graduated from Princeton and Harvard.
The Democrats’ demonization of Gabbard and Hegseth is ridiculous.
They are desperate to attack anyone who is not a full-blown establishment hack.
