Pope Francis has been celebrated by the international Left.
He is no stranger to pushing so-called progressive causes.
And the Pope made one shocking comment in the face of this growing crisis.
The Pope wants even more mass migration into Europe
Pope Francis is a believer in liberation theology, which essentially attempts to fold socialism into Christianity.
That is why he has been so quick to jump aboard far-left causes.
He has called for an international organization to monitor climate change and enforce mitigation efforts.
And despite living in the Vatican, one of the most fortified locations in the world, the Pope has been a big proponent of mass migration.
In fact, Pope Francis recently called it a “grave sin” for countries, particularly those in Europe, not to welcome migrants from Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.
During a weekly address, Pope Francis said, “It must be said clearly: there are those who work systematically and with every means possible to repel migrants. And this, when done with awareness and responsibility, is a grave sin.”
This misses the point that many countries have been overwhelmed by mass migration.
European economies are already stagnant thanks to limited—if not nonexistent—growth.
Their generous, quasi-socialist pensions are bankrupting the countries.
Decades ago, migrants were brought in to pay into the system that provided for pensioners, but officials seemed to have a strange belief that these migrants would eventually go home.
It turned out that they much preferred living in countries like Britain and France, and wanted to avail themselves of the same benefits.
Left-wing European governments are making the same wrong-headed calculation again, but now the problem goes beyond economics.
Thanks to multiculturalism, which former German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted had failed, migrants are coming in and forming enclaves that are detached from the host country’s broader culture.
Unsurprisingly, that has led to violent clashes, which has precipitated heavy-handed government crackdowns.
Not on migrants, but on the native-born populations.
The West is responsible for the entire world
Pope Francis continued, “Some deserts too, unfortunately, are becoming cemeteries of migrants. And even here it is not always a question of ‘natural’ deaths. No.”
A handful of countries cannot absorb the entire world.
There have to be immigration restrictions for many practical reasons.
The Pope also said, “At times, they have been taken to the desert and abandoned. In the time of satellites and drones, there are migrant men, women and children that no-one must see. Only God sees them and hears their cry.”
Human traffickers are exploiting people by taking their money and sending them on perilous journeys to countries that cannot provide for them.
“Brothers and sisters, we can all agree on one thing: migrants should not be in those seas and in those lethal deserts,” said Pope Francis.
That is true, but it is the responsibility of the people to come to the country through legal means, not treacherous journeys through deserts and the sea.
The Pope added, “But it is not through more restrictive laws, it is not with the militarization of borders, it is not with rejection that we will obtain this result.”
He called for “safe and legal” immigration, but that is not what’s happening.
They are coming illegally, and even more would come if there were no laws.
Of course, there is no such pressure on non-Western countries to take in people.
For example, Saudi Arabia has never been pressured to take in fellow Muslims fleeing other countries.
