Biden and the Democrats see the Chinese Communist Party getting more authoritarian.
They’re doing everything they can to keep up.
And what China did to this one broadcast could be coming here as Biden and the Democrats do all they can to keep up with Xi.
The surveillance state has expanded as technology improved.
Nowhere is that more clear than Communist China where the CCP does not tolerate any criticism of its party or its country.
And you can bet Joe Biden and the Democrats were jealous as could be of the CCP’s latest crackdown.
The CCP pulled a broadcast of an NBA game between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
Celtics center Enes Kanter caused a stir when he criticized President Xi Jinping on social media.
From NBC News:
“Kanter posted a video to social media earlier in the day in which he labeled Chinese President Xi Jinping a ‘brutal dictator’ and voiced support for Tibet’s independence. The comments drew swift reaction from Beijing and threatened a fresh backlash against the league, which is still reeling from its last political controversy in China, a lucrative market where it has millions of fans.”
Criticizing President Xi and recognizing Tibet as independent are two third rails for the CCP.
Former Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey nearly got fired for tweeting benign support for pro-freedom protesters in Hong Kong.
Morey and the NBA were forced to apologize, and several NBA stars were used as puppets to heap praise on China.
NBC News continued:
“Tencent, which as the NBA’s digital streaming partner in China attracts half a billion viewers a season, pulled the broadcast of the Celtics’ game against the New York Knicks. The team’s upcoming games are also no longer listed as available to stream in its broadcast schedule, and searches for Kanter’s name appeared to have been blocked on China’s Twitter-like social media platform Weibo.”
Kanter, a native of Turkey, has been very outspoken on political issues.
Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan essentially put a bounty on Kanter’s head, and Kanter’s father was nearly imprisoned for decades as a result.
His parents are in the process of getting visas.
NBC News added:
“Meanwhile, one Celtics fan account on Weibo told its 600,000 followers that it would no longer be posting about the team. ‘Any behavior that undermines the harmony of the nation and the dignity of the motherland, we resolutely resist!’ the page’s administrator wrote.”
China is flexing its muscle, and the NBA will probably cave the way they did on the Hong Kong issue.
The former British protectorate has all but been annexed by mainland China since then.
China provides too much money to the American market for big corporations to stand up to the CCP.
