Kansas City Chiefs star Harrison Butker has the woke outrage mob after him for speaking out about his faith.

One of the biggest stars on his team weighed in on the controversy.

And Travis Kelce broke his silence on Harrison Butker with three surprising words.

Travis Kelce comes out in support of Harrison Butker after controversy

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker never expected to be in the middle of a media-manufactured controversy after he spoke at the graduation of Benedictine College.

Butker was raked over the coals for giving a commencement speech that contained traditional Catholic themes like opposing abortion and the LGBT agenda along with promoting motherhood to a small Catholic liberal arts college.

The media pounced on his speech to make baseless attacks against him for publicly expressing his faith.

Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce – who became one of the most famous people in the country after he began dating pop star Taylor Swift – came to the defense of his teammate.

Kelce called Butker a “great person” during his podcast New Heights with his brother Jason Kelce.

“I have known him for seven plus, eight plus years,” Kelce said. “I cherish him as a teammate. I think Pat [Mahomes] said it best where he [Butker] is every bit of a great person and a great teammate. He’s treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid both came to the defense of him.

The Chiefs star said he didn’t agree with the views expressed by Butker but said he didn’t judge his teammate based on his religious views.

“That’s how he treats everyone,” Kelce continued. “When it comes down to his views and what he said at Saint Benedict’s commencement speech, those are his. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids. And I don’t think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life, that’s just not who I am.”

The people who know Butker the best – among them his teammates, coaches, and ownership – have all come to his defense after the backlash for the graduation speech broke out.

Jason Kelce

Kelce explained that growing up in the working-class suburb of Cleveland Heights, Ohio he encountered many different beliefs.

“I grew up in a beautiful upbringing of different social classes, different religions, different races and ethnicities in Cleveland Heights. … It showed me a broad spectrum, just a broad view of a lot of different walks of life,” Kelce continued. “And I appreciated every single one of those people for different reasons, and I never once had to feel like I needed to judge them based off of their beliefs.”

He credited his father and mother for being “homemakers and providers.”

Jason Kelce noted that Butker gave “a commencement speech at a Catholic university, and, shocker, it ended up being a very religious and Catholic speech.”

The Chiefs organization has the back of Harrison Butker against cancel culture after his commencement address.
