Pope Francis has made several statements that left Catholics scratching their heads.
The Left has been friendly to him because of his advocacy for progressive policies.
Now the Pope called for Big Tech to do something disturbing.
Establishment media outlets have been hammering Big Tech to ratchet up censorship of counter-narrative voices that are disproportionately right-wing.
The pretext for doing so is combating “hate speech” or “misinformation,” which can broadly be interpreted as anything the establishment does not like.
And the Pope got in on the act by imploring Big Tech to increase censorship.
While speaking at the nebulous World Meeting of Popular Movements, which sounds like a globalist front group, Pope Francis said:
“In the name of God, I ask the technology giants to stop exploiting human weakness, people’s vulnerability, for the sake of profits without caring about the spread of hate speech, grooming, fake news, conspiracy theories, and political manipulation.”
It’s chilling that the Pope would invoke God to call for more social media regulation.
The establishment has been pushing hard for exactly that.
That’s why the so-called mainstream media elevated Facebook “whistleblower” Frances Haugen, who’s really a Democrat operative, to celebrity status.
Haugen wants Facebook to censor more, and so does legacy media, which has seen its power diminish in the age of social media.
And now the Pope is on the bandwagon.
Pope Francis has been controversial to say the least.
Other than his hardline pro-life stance, the Pope has echoed virtually every progressive sentiment.
Pope Francis is a devotee of liberation theology, which melds Christianity with socialist ideas.
The Pope has advocated for open borders, government mobilization to fight climate change, and now tech censorship.
The elites are doing everything they can to accrue the power they’ve lost over the past few years.
Donald Trump exposed the corruption that had been taking place among the elite class, and the establishment is trying to put the genie back in the bottle.
But many people around the globe are rejecting globalism.
They don’t want to be governed by a stateless ruling class in Belgium.
Populist movements are gaining strength for that exact reason.
Social media is a powerful tool that the establishment cannot monopolize, but they’re doing everything they can to do so.
Pope Francis wants Big Tech to crack down on “conspiracy theories,” but it seems highly unlikely that would include nonsense like Russiagate, which still persists today.
