The Left are attempting to criminalize dissent.
The weaponization of the DOJ by Joe Biden is the clearest example.
Now the establishment appears to be trying to shut up this film for causing them headaches.
Conservative author, commentator, and documentary filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza has truly gotten under the skin of the Democrats.
After making a film critical of Barack Obama, D’Souza was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for a penny-ante campaign finance violation that generally results in a minor fine.
Instead, D’Souza was ordered to do time in a halfway house with hardened criminals.
D’Souza was later pardoned by Donald Trump, which infuriated the Left.
The persecution of D’Souza should’ve been a wake-up for the Right because the establishment is only amplifying these tactics.
Now officials in Arizona are going after the nonprofit group True the Vote that helped with research for D’Souza’s popular documentary 2,000 Mules.
The film argues that Democrats essentially used ballot mules to run up votes for Joe Biden in key swing states.
Officials say True the Vote failed to provide evidence
D’Souza argued his case using cell phone tracking data provided by True the Vote, and Arizona officials want to sic the feds on the organization.
The Daily Wire reported that “Republican Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s office called on federal officials Friday to investigate the nonprofit group behind the 2020 Presidential Election documentary ‘2,000 Mules,’ which alleges widespread voter fraud occurred in Arizona and other key swing states. Chief Special Agent Reginald ‘Reggie’ Grigsby of Bronvich’s office disputed the allegations in a letter accusing Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote (TTV), a Texas-based nonprofit organization focused on the electoral process, and its contractor Gregg Phillips of failing to provide evidence surrounding voter fraud, adding the group allegedly used the claim to raise ‘considerable sums of money.’ Engelbrecht and Phillips appeared in filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza’s movie ‘2000 Mules.’”
The film 2,000 Mules showed an anonymous woman who claimed to have personally witnessed voter fraud in the state of Arizona.
However, Arizona Chief Special Agent Reginald Gribsy said, “TTV has raised considerable sums of money alleging they had evidence of widespread voter fraud, and their efforts would train the public to protect election integrity at the polls and to help protect all voters’ rights…They indicate they have provided the information to law enforcement agencies; in our case, they have not after promising to do so.”
Arizona officials are attempting to get True the Vote on an IRS violation.
True the Vote issued a scathing rebuttal, accusing Arizona’s Attorney General office of not protecting the identity of informants and ignoring evidence.
The nonprofit wrote in a statement, “The letter sent by the Arizona AG’s office and simultaneously released to media is false and smacks of retribution for the AG’s own decision to ignore suspicious voting activity…To True the Vote’s surprise, they later learned that these investigators violated the confidentiality that should have been afforded to informants in an ongoing criminal investigation, by the AG’s office releasing to media the identity of private citizens who had provided information. It was clear that the intent of this was to chill the investigation and send a warning to those who had mistakenly believed law enforcement would protect them…True the Vote has documentary records of correspondence with the State of Arizona and the FBI, detailing the evidence and its limitations. Had the Arizona AG’s office been serious in their investigation of True the Vote’s information, they would have had no need to send a letter to the FBI and simultaneously transform it into a press release to cover up their own failings.”
These are the dirty tricks that establishment players use to silence dissent.
Anyone who deviates from the narrative must be punished.
Either way it looks like Arizona officials want to punish True the Vote for causing them headaches.
