Everyone knows the corporate-controlled press is overwhelmingly left-wing.
Big Tech has been trending in the same direction for years.
And the connection between Big Tech and the corporate-controlled media is worse than you think.
The so-called “mainstream” media and Silicon Valley elites seem to have a conspiracy of interests, meaning they’re aligned ideologically without actually coordinating.
But the alignment is worse than that.
Facebook is pouring massive amounts of money into legacy media institutions in licensing fees.
The Wrap reports:
“There aren’t many companies that can say they’ve poured hundreds of millions into journalism in the last few years. Facebook has — $600 million over since 2018 — and it is promising another $1 billion in the next three years. A Wrap inquiry into the details of the $600 million found that many of those dollars are hard to track, except in the most general terms. When broken down into the main categories mostly based in the U.S., The Wrap could only specifically verify the expenditure of roughly $122 million — barely one-quarter of the pledged sum — begging the question: Where is the money going?”
The majority of Americans get their news from Facebook, so the company’s financial and ideological bias undoubtedly affects what users see.
For example, conservative-leaning pages and news organizations get censored and de-boosted.
Facebook spokesman Andy Stone admitted on Twitter that his company would be intentionally slowing the dissemination of the Hunter Biden laptop story from the New York Post, which turned out to be true.
The Wrap continued:
“In addition to donating heavily to nonprofits and paying small grants to local newspapers, Facebook pays rich licensing fees to a handful of premium publishers, like The New York Times, The Washington Post, News Corp, Bloomberg and BuzzFeed. Those deal terms are not publicly disclosed, but TheWrap has obtained documents of one agreement with a leading U.S. publisher for $5 million over five years.”
As Facebook is shoveling cash to corporate media entities, those same companies are pressuring Facebook to censor “disinformation,” that is anything conservative or counter-narrative.
Released emails showed CEO Mark Zuckerberg had a willingness to do exactly that with regard to COVID-19 vaccines.
Facebook has essentially been invited into the media club and now they’re helping dictate what can and cannot be seen by unwitting users.
