Democrats have a razor-thin majority in both the Senate and House of Representatives.
That all may be about to change in the 2022 midterms.
And now Joe Biden recently made one announcement that could lead to Chuck Schumer losing his role as Senate Majority Leader.
On the third anniversary of the tragic mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, Joe Biden released a statement announcing his administration’s intention to gut the Second Amendment by outlawing many types of popular rifles, shotguns, and pistols.
Additionally, Biden’s radical agenda would make it easier for Americans to sue gun manufacturers, and to create a national gun registration database, which would expose law-abiding gun owners to harassment from Big Government.
The White House’s statement read:
This Administration will not wait for the next mass shooting to heed that call. We will take action to end our epidemic of gun violence and make our schools and communities safer. Today, I am calling on Congress to enact common sense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets. We owe it to all those we’ve lost and to all those left behind to grieve to make a change. The time to act is now.”
Democrats have incumbent Senators running for re-election in pro-gun states like New Hampshire, Arizona, and Georgia.
With Republicans needing to win a net gain of just one Senate seat in 2022, Republicans have to flip just one seat in order to take control of the Senate and thwart Biden’s gun-grabbing agenda.
The Democrats’ pushing of gun control has proven to be unpopular amongst American voters in the past.
After Bill Clinton’s 1994 assault weapons ban and Barack Obama’s failed 2013 push for a gun registration database, Democrats suffered historic losses in both houses of Congress in the ensuing midterm elections.
Joe Biden is flirting with political suicide after this call to ban the vast majority of guns nationwide.
And if history is any guide, and the Republicans win the Senate after Biden’s anti-gun rhetoric, it could play a pivotal role in the ousting of Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader.
