Joe Biden weaponized the Department of Justice in truly disturbing ways.

Attorney General Merrick Garland had to have been dreading the Republicans regaining control of the House.

And Garland just revealed the one potential GOP move that has kept him up at night.

One of Donald Trump’s crowning achievements was waking up Americans to the dangers of the intelligence community (IC) and the Deep State.

After Trump was inaugurated, Senator Chuck Schumer fired a warning shot to Trump when he told Rachel Maddow, “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

And they certainly did throughout Trump’s four years in office.

Biden regime nervous they’ll lose warrantless wiretap spying power

But one of the IC’s most dangerous weapons is up for review, and GOP Republicans might torpedo it once and for all.

The warrantless wiretap spy law of 2008—formally known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act—might not be renewed, much to the dismay of the Department of Justice and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen said at the Democrat think tank the Brookings Institution, “Its value cannot be overstated…Without 702, we will lose indispensable intelligence for our decision-makers and warfighters, as well as those of our allies. And we have no fallback authority that could come close to making up for that loss.”

But people on both the Left and the Right have raised serious concerns over privacy violations regarding warrantless wiretaps.

Only foreign nationals can be targeted with 702, but Americans who have communicated with foreign nationals can be caught up in a surveillance dragnet.

Glenn Gerstell, a former deep state lawyer for the NSA, told The Washington Post, “We’re talking only about the subset of national security targets the FBI is worried about, mainly in counterintelligence and counterterrorism cases — and only if they think there’s some foreign connection. They can’t just search that database for some routine domestic crime.”

But the IC has lost credibility on these issues with Americans.

Russian collusion was used as a pretext to surveil people in Trump’s orbit – former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith pleaded guilty to lying to the FISA court in order to renew surveillance on Carter Page.

Meanwhile, the FBI knew that Carter Page was talking to the Russians on behalf of the CIA.

Also, an NSA whistleblower told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the government was reading his emails because he was attempting to set up an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On top of that, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper got caught lying to Congress about NSA surveillance on American citizens.

The Republicans in Congress need to scrap warrantless wiretaps now.

The IC has made it clear that the War on Terror has been turned inward on American citizens.
