Attorney General Merrick Garland is completely out of control.
His actions proved that the Republicans were right to keep him off the Supreme Court.
And Garland just got stiff-armed by a federal jury after one bogus arrest.
It’s not surprising that a Democratic president would appoint a career Democrat to the position of attorney general, but it’s quite disturbing how Merrick Garland has abused his power.
For example, Garland sicced the FBI on parents who protested at school board meetings.
He authorized a raid on Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago.
And he sent in heavily-armed agents to arrest pro-life activist Mark Houck on a petty charge.
Houck got into a minor altercation with a pro-abortion zealot outside an abortion clinic.
The activist was verbally abusing Houck’s 12-year-old son, and Houck pushed him away.
That push led to a trumped up arrest for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
The feds claimed that Houck violated the FACE Act by using “force with the intent to injure, intimidate, and interfere with anyone because that person is a provider of reproductive health care.”
Jury finds pro-lifer not guilty
After the terrifying arrest and trumped-up charges, Houck prevailed when a federal jury found Houck not guilty.
Houck’s attorney Matt Britton said, “This is a win not just for the pro-life movement and Mark but for free speech and every single American…The federal government trumped up charges months after a local case had been dismissed. If the feds had prevailed, every argument in front of every abortion facility, no matter the subject, could result in federal charges.”
This was an incident that had been dismissed by local police, but the Democrats literally wanted to make a federal case out of it.
Britton added, “The feds tried to make a point that they would not tolerate pro-life speech and tried to make Mark an example that they would charge and intimidate pro-lifers, all while claiming that they represent democracy and free speech. But not today. The system worked, and justice prevailed.”
Garland is very pro-abortion, so much so that he released a shocking statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs case that overturned Roe v. Wade.
He essentially encouraged women to use the abortion pill in states where abortion was restricted.
Houck’s conviction on federal charges would’ve been an absolutely chilling outcome for free speech and pro-life advocacy.
