The events of Congressman Matt Gaetz’s life have played out like a movie over the last few months.
Extortion plots, sex trafficking, Presidential pardons, and more were all wrapped up in an attack on Gaetz and his family.
Well it looks like Matt Gaetz has found freedom as Biden’s DOJ shuts down the sex trafficking investigation.
Earlier this year, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz was named as the focus of a federal sex trafficking investigation involving a 17-year-old girl.
From the start Gaetz denied the allegations and no charges had been filed against him, but the DOJ was still investigating the situation.
As the sex trafficking allegations emerged, Gaetz said that he and his father, former Florida State Senator Don Gaetz, were targeted for extortion by Stephen Alford and Robert Kent, a former Air Force intelligence officer.
Alford and Robert Kent allegedly asked the elder Gaetz for $25 million to secure the release of former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who disappeared in Iran while on a mission for the CIA in 2007 and was held hostage for years.
Levinson’s family and the U.S. government concluded that he was dead in March of 2020 but Alford claimed he was still alive and could secure a pardon for Congressman Gaetz should he be charged with federal crimes in the sex trafficking case.
This past Tuesday, Stephen Alford appeared in court after being arrested and charged with wire fraud and the attempted prevention of seizure of an electronic device.
Alford was indicted on the charges by the grand jury.
The DOJ announced Alford was in the custody of U.S. Marshals and could be facing up 25 years in prison if convicted.
Not long after the indictment it was announced that the DOJ’s investigation into the supposed sex trafficking by Representative Gaetz had been shut down.
The FBI is now working to determine who else was involved in the shakedown attempt.
Congressman Matt Gaetz maintained his innocence from the beginning despite repeated attempts by his enemies to paint him as a horrible individual.
The men behind this deplorable act need to face the consequences and be ashamed of the damage they did to a number of innocent people.
