So many major corporations are running scared.
They’re either afraid of “woke” activists, or Democratic politicians threatening regulation.
And a lawyer who defended Donald Trump ripped companies for one cowardly move.
Elon Musk just threw a monkey wrench into the Democrat Media Complex by purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, taking it private, then exposing the collusion Democrats and government officials engaged in with the social media platform’s previous management.
The Left hates Musk for making good on those goals thus far.
And they have launched campaigns amongst government and Twitter’s advertisers to get even.
Turley torches woke companies for jumping on anti-Twitter train
Jonathan Turley, an attorney who defended Donald Trump during sham impeachment #1, called out companies for their seeming aversion to free speech.
Turley, an old-school Democrat, wrote, “For those in support of the restoration of free speech protections on Twitter, here are some of the companies pulling their ads in protest. Chevrolet, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., Ford, Jeep, Kyndryl, Merck & Co. and Novartis AG…These companies were fine with Twitter censoring free speech and blocking stories like the Hunter Biden laptop scandal before the election. They were fine with barring medical experts who were later proven to have valid concerns on Covid.”
Turley is entirely correct.
These major corporations were not concerned about the suppression of the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” bombshell or esteemed epidemiologists who disagreed with Dr. Anthony Fauci in a science-based way.
It’s quite revealing that the Left find free speech so “problematic.”
Turley continued, “Chevrolet, Chipotle, Ford, Jeep, Kyndryl, Merck, Novartis etc cannot abide the removal of one of the world’s largest and most notorious censorship systems. Of course, free speech includes the freedom not to support companies that do not support your free speech…If these companies had problems with the prior censorship system, the barring of stories like the Biden laptop, or barring dissenting views, it apparently was not sufficient to cause them to pull advertising…The departure of these companies has followed a campaign from figures long opposed to free speech principles on social media…For example, Chipotle issued a statement that it is pulling support to ‘gain a better understanding on the direction of the platform under its new leadership’…That is similar to the language used by other companies. Again, the concern for the ‘direction’ of Twitter [does] not seem to motivate companies when the platform was banning and [censoring] dissenting views on issues ranging from climate change to Covid…The companies have been vague on what they want to see from Twitter.”
Musk has hinted that massive censorship was happening behind the scenes, as many people on the Right suspected.
Now that free speech is back at Twitter, so many politicians, celebrities, and companies have a big problem with it.
The Left is proving that they do not care about values such as free speech.
They have cultural power, and they want to enforce it.
That cannot happen if people are allowed to speak freely.
