Joe Biden was furious after a top government official gave Big Tech this shocking warning

Joe Biden counted on having Big Tech in his back pocket.

He never saw this move coming.

Now he’s furious after a top government official gave Big Tech this shocking warning.

TikTok is the social media platform that’s taking the world by storm on its way to being the most downloaded app in the world.

It quickly became the most popular social media for young people eclipsing established social media players like Facebook and Twitter.

TikTok’s success in attracting younger users left Mark Zuckerberg panicking to the point he copied its short form video format for his companies.

While TikTok has exploded in popularity, its ties to the Communist Chinese government are raising serious questions.

The app collects more data on its users than other major tech companies with it ending up in the hands of the Chinese government.

Recently Buzzfeed News dropped a bombshell report that revealed that TikTok’s parent company in China, ByteDance, has access to all of the user data.

This came after years of denial by the company’s U.S. leaders that China could access this data.

The creepy surveillance scheme being conducted by TikTok led critics to call it the Chinese spyware app.

Now Federal Communications Commission (FCC) commissioner Brendan Carr is asking the CEOs of Google and Apple to remove TikTok’s app from their stores.

In a letter to the CEOs Carr warned of “an alarming new report” from Buzzfeed News that exposed “serious national security threats posed by TikTok.”

“TikTok is not what it appears to be on the surface. It is not just an app for sharing funny videos or memes. That’s the sheep’s clothing,” Carr wrote. “At its core, TikTok functions as a sophisticated surveillance tool that harvests extensive amounts of personal and sensitive data.”

Carr said that TikTok’s parent company ByteDance is “beholden to the Communist Party of China and required by Chinese law to comply with the PRC’s surveillance demands.”

Chinese law requires that tech companies in the countries assist the Communist government with intelligence efforts.

This cozy relationship between Chinese tech companies and the government leads to companies like ByteDance lying about their data collection efforts while acting as an arm of Chinese intelligence.

Carr noted that TikTok is collecting the browsing and searching history of its users along with biometric identifiers like faceprints and voiceprints.

“The list of personal and sensitive data it collects goes on from there,” Carr wrote. “This should come as no surprise, however. Within its own borders, the PRC has developed some of the most invasive and omnipresent surveillance capabilities in the world to maintain authoritarian control.”

TikTok is harvesting a treasure trove of data on Americans and handing it over to the Chinese government for nefarious purposes.

“It is clear that TikTok poses an unacceptable national security risk due to its extensive data harvesting being combined with Beijing’s apparently unchecked access to that sensitive data,” Carr said.

It remains to be seen if Apple and Google remove TikTok, but it’s clear pressure is growing against the Chinese social media giant.
