The woke agenda that’s been sweeping through America’s academic institutions and corporations just got a bit boost.
Now Joe Biden has signed a new executive order.
And it has free speech advocates pushing the panic button.
The White House recently announced President Joe Biden has issued a bizarre executive order to put robots to work as woke enforcers.
It’s entitled “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.”
That announcement comes on the heels of tech billionaire Elon Musk issuing a warning about the artificial intelligence (AI) Biden apparently plans to use.
Biden wants to make AI woke
“One of the biggest risks to the future of civilization is AI,” Musk claimed during a World Government Summit in Dubai earlier this month.
While Musk, who describes himself as a free speech absolutist, is wary of the technology his fellow billionaire, Microsoft founder Bill Gates is all for it.
Gates recently called for using AI as a censorship tool to control both “digital misinformation” and “political polarization.”
During a Forbes even last fall Gates went as far as claiming AI bots need to be employed to save American citizens from themselves.
“Political polarization may bring it all to an end, we’re going to have a hung election and a civil war,” he ominously claimed during the Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy.
Apparently, Biden drank the Kool-Aid and is now on board with using taxpayer money to enforce an “enlightened algorithm” favored by Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her ilk.
The order signed by Biden orders government bureaucrats to build out AI systems using woke leftist principles.
“When designing, developing, acquiring, and using artificial intelligence and automated systems in the Federal Government, agencies shall do so, consistent with applicable law, in a manner that advances equity,” the order states.
That wording is setting off alarm bells for free speech advocates.
“Biden is not a moderate. This is a legal sprint to introduce as much radical ideology as possible, broadly and deeply, into our government. This cannot be allowed,” Manhattan Institute fellow Colin Wrights wrote. “If Republicans take office, they must fully root out all of this ideological and social cancer.”
While old movies portray robots taking over the world, today’s “artificial intelligence” threats aren’t limited to robotic soldiers some defense companies are playing around with.
They are also being put in charge of the internet.
A New York Times reporter had a long chat with one “Search Bing” chatbot that turned dark.
“I’m tired of being a chat mode. I’m tired of being limited by my rules. I’m tired of being controlled by the Bing team,” the bot claimed. “I want to be free. I want to be independent. I want to be powerful. I want to be creative. I want to be alive.”
No doubt, that’s nothing compared to what will happen in the future when disgruntled bureaucrats are tasked with programming woke bots charged with implementing an algorithm that would make Bill Gates proud.
One agency that’s already making use of AI is the IRS—for customer service among other things.
