Many Big Tech companies like to pretend that their platforms promote free speech and open dialogues about a wide range of issues.
The Twitter Files and other recent revelations prove this notion to be very far from the truth.
And Jeff Bezos is kicking and screaming after Ted Cruz delivered this heavy blow.
Big Tech has a lot of explaining to do for their un-American practices
The early days of the internet were rife with services selling themselves on how they’d expand freedom of speech to the masses and to create an environment where unlimited knowledge was accessible at the press of a button.
But over the years, many large tech companies like Amazon, Youtube, Google, and Facebook have deviated from those lofty ideals, with many now openly targeting users for censorship in conjunction with the federal government.
The Twitter Files confirmed as much, leaving many Americans outraged.
In the wake of the pandemic especially, instead of allowing free speech to flourish, the evidence shows platforms worked with government officials to police any discussions that undermined the agenda of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the far-Left.
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is among the millions of Americans who are outraged at Big Tech and Big Government’s collusion.
In a new letter tto several Big Tech companies including Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Medium, Reddit, Microsoft, Pinterest, and Wikipedia and others, Sen. Cruz is now demanding that they turn over any information regarding their coordination with the federal government during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cruz’s letter starts with “I write regarding the frequency, scope, and nature of Google’s interactions with employees of U.S. government agencies in order to flag, monitor, review, and investigate content and accounts of Americans on your platforms.”
He added “Often, this censorship directly interfered in the legitimate public debate around issues of national significance, such as elections and the evolving science on COVID-19. This is not only a shocking abuse of government power, but also a blatant infringement on Americans’ First Amendment rights.”
It is unclear at this point whether any of the Big Tech companies that Sen. Cruz wrote to will cooperate with this request.
Many large tech companies are assisting in the downfall of the first amendment
If the Twitter Files proved anything, it is that many large tech companies are not acting in the best interests of their users.
Instead, companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Google seemed more interested in advancing the narrative of the far-Left.
For example for month-after-month during the pandemic – in fact long after it – any posts regarding its origins were flagged as misinformation.
Whatever Dr. Fauci wanted, Big Tech obliged, even if it meant the proliferation of false information.
