Just say the name Hunter Biden, and it conjures up thoughts of a man with countless skeletons in his closet who continues to be protected by his powerful father, Joe Biden.
To say the facts in the Hunter Biden case are fraught with controversy is an understatement.
Now it’s been revealed that Hunter Biden’s prosecutor paused the investigation before the 2020 election, and the public wants to know why.
New information is being released that shows Delaware’s U.S. Attorney, David Weiss, avoided taking action in the Hunter Biden investigation in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election.
Veteran U.S. attorney David Weiss, a Trump appointee, is known for his willingness to take on powerful Delaware figures.
Not one to shy away from prosecuting some of the most influential people in Delaware politics, Weiss chose not to proceed in the investigation of Hunter Biden because he wanted to keep it out of the 2020 campaign news cycle.
Last summer, the probe into possible tax law violations by Hunter Biden reached a point where prosecutors could have issued grand jury subpoenas and sought search warrants, but they chose not to.
Some officials involved in the case were ready to charge ahead, but others urged Weiss to be cautious.
According to sources, insiders told the bulldog attorney to avoid taking actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election.
Now some are wondering if that bulldog turned into a poodle at the behest of Joe Biden.
Unknown to many in America, Delaware has an underground political culture akin to that of the New Jersey mob.
Delaware political dynasties like the Biden family are rarely investigated and often protected from any type of legal action.
Joe Biden himself embraces what they affectionately refer to as “the Delaware way,” a nickname for the cozy political culture in the state.
One person involved in the discussions between Weiss and the political powers that be in Delaware has been quoted as saying about the veteran prosecutor’s decision to pause the investigation, “to his credit, he listened.”
Listened to who?
That’s what people want to know.
Since taking office, Joe Biden has left Weiss – a Republican – in his place based on the recommendation of Delaware’s two Democrat Senators.
Weiss is in a tough spot.
Being the lone prosecutor tasked with deciding how to proceed with an investigation of the President’s son is not an enviable position.
The Hunter Biden case is bubbling over with problems.
While the probe was focused on possible tax law violations, Weiss also examined Hunter’s business dealings with foreign interests, which first came to light amid the famous laptop discovery.
Among Delaware’s political and legal community, David Weiss has a bipartisan reputation for professionalism and a track record of being a straight shooter.
Weiss is known for tackling the excesses of “the Delaware way,” and taking on the establishment.
Very early in Weiss’s career, he was special prosecutor on a case that involved a federal crackdown on bribery and extortion among both parties of the Delaware political scene.
The well-liked prosecutor even investigated Joe Biden’s Presidential Campaign fundraising back in the early 2000s.
Whatever Weiss’s reasoning for pausing the investigation into the Hunter Biden case, one thing is for sure, regardless of the timing, it was sure to be a politically charged case from the start.
One can only hope that Weiss made the decision believing that it would give him the ability to better prosecute the case, but the details remain clouded in suspicion, and the Biden family isn’t known for its above-board business dealings.
Trump supporters around the country continue to believe that had the information about the case come out before the 2020 election, the man sitting in the White House would look very different right now.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and there is no hard evidence that it would have flipped the election in Trump’s favor.
But for David Weiss, this could be a very major smear on his largely flawless record.
