The world of sports has been defenseless against leftist activists’ on-going march on sacred American institutions.

But they never expected the fire and brimstone that has rained down after they went after one sport of kings.

Because Franklin Graham and Pamela Anderson’s “big love” have leftists seething after they found common cause on women’s sports.

Surf star refused to compete if the sport allows one radical change

Politics has seeped into just about every sport.

But Bethany Hamilton just took a big stand that’s bringing some strange bedfellows together.

The female professional surfer announced she’s refusing to compete if the sport’s governing body carries through with its edict that allows biological males who identify as transgender to compete against women.

Hamilton, who lost her left arm to a tiger shark bite as a teenager (the 2011 film Soul Surfer, starring Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid was based on her life), took to Instagram to protest the World Surf League’s (WSL) plan that will use the Olympic standard of testosterone levels, which are separate from genetic structure.

Under the plan, transgender contestants are allowed to have higher testosterone levels than their biologically female counterparts.

Athletes who have gone through adult puberty have a marked advantage, even after hormone treatments.

Hamilton said, “I personally think that the best solution would be to create a different division so that all can have a fair opportunity to showcase their passion and talent – and I think it’s really hard to imagine what the future of women’s surfing will be like in 15-20 years down the road if we move forward allowing this major change.”

Hamilton’s statements track what other professional athletes have made similar statements about their respective sports.

The controversy of trans athletes in sports erupted when University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas shattered records while competing against women.

When Thomas competed as William in the men’s division, Thomas was ranked in the 500s, but finished number one in the women’s division.

Hamilton’s stand comes as the chasmic difference between men and women at the elite levels of athletics are becoming more glaring as transgender activists push further into women’s sports.

Hamilton is definitely not alone in her opinion even in the so-called sport of kings, which has never lived down the campy, free-wheeling, stoner images Hollywood has smeared it with over the decades.

League “broadsided by surf legends” and Rev. Franklin Graham

Prominent surfing media outlet BeachGrit stated the World Surf League was “Broadsided by surf legends, including Kelly Slater, Shane Dorian…and its own North Shore Water Patrol, loudly denouncing new policy.”

11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater – who made headlines when Pamela Anderson recently revealed in her Netflix documentary Pamela, a Love Story that the champ was her “big love actually” but she ditched him cold for rock drummer Tommy Lee who she said spiked her drink with ecstasy – agrees with Hamilton’s proposal.

Slater previously stated that if transgenders are going to compete in professional surfing, it should be in their own division.

Big wave legend Shane Dorian came in to support Hamilton on social media saying, “Speak your truth! Thank you for being brave enough to stand up for what you believe…Don’t listen to people who hurl the word transphobic at anyone [whose] beliefs don’t align perfectly with theirs. These are complicated problems with no clear solution. Regardless, there [are] many people who love and support the trans community who agree with you on these issues.”

But the largest voice speaking up on Hamilton’s side, likely came from the Reverend Franklin Graham who called public attention to the ongoing attacks on women’s sports.

Graham took to social media stating that “Bethany Hamilton lost her arm in a shark attack while surfing when she was 13 years old, but she survived and has been surfing competitively for 15 years,” and adding that “Now Bethany says she is stepping out of the sport because of a new rule the World Surf League has put in place that allows men to compete in the women’s competitions.”

Graham called the rules “tragic,” and pondered “why all women don’t stand up in revolt!,” asking concerning women’s sports “who makes these rules anyway?” before going on to encourage his followers to “Pray for Bethany & other brave young women like her who are trying to defend women’s athletic programs everywhere.”

It’s mind-boggling to see how far radical gender ideology has come.

An obscure discipline in the crevices of academia is now stampeding through one institution after another.

Hamilton added, “I was messaging with a friend who is a part of the (LGBTQ) community and I really don’t think at this point there is a solution that will please everyone…There are different world views and that is part of life. I may not have the perfect answer. But I do feel the way I do and will continue to stand firm in what I shared here.

Needless to say, Hamilton has already been attacked by “woke” activists, but people on the other side of the issue have expressed support.

Riley Gaines, who competed against Lia Thomas in collegiate swimming, said, “THANK YOU for using your platform to share this. I can’t express how inspiring this is.”
