Fani Willis thought she was going to be the first Democrat to convict Donald Trump.

Now her case is in shambles after she was caught in an ugly scandal.

And Fani Willis was reduced to tears after a court handed her this devastating setback.

Fani Willis watches a Georgia appeals court shut down her case

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has watched her case against former President Donald Trump and his allies for challenging the results of the 2020 Election collapse.

Willis was caught hiring her boyfriend Nathan Wade to serve as a special prosecutor on the Trump case despite the fact he was a divorce attorney who never tried a felony case.

Wade was paid more than $600,000 in taxpayer money that bank records show he used to pay for the couple to go on luxury vacations.

Judge Scott McAfee suggested that Willis committed perjury for lying about her relationship with Wade and slammed her personal conduct in a hearing to disqualify her from the case over a conflict of interest.

Trump’s legal team appealed the judge’s ruling on disqualification which is set to begin oral arguments in October.

Now, the Georgia Court of Appeals has told Judge McAfee to pause the case until the matter of Willis’ disqualification is resolved.

The appeals court has until March 2025 to make a ruling on disqualification after which the losing side can make an appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court.

“The Georgia Court of Appeals has properly stayed all proceedings against President Trump in the trial court pending its decision on our interlocutory appeal,” Trump attorney Steve Sadow said in a statement. “Which argues the case should be dismissed and Fulton County DA Willis should be disqualified for her misconduct.”

Donald Trump’s trial in Georgia may never happen now

Willis wanted to start the case before the 2024 Election with a proposed August start date.

Trump would be tied down in a Fulton County courtroom at the height of campaign season with the potential for a conviction coming in the closing weeks of the election.

She had very little chance of starting the trial before the election before the appeals court issued a pause.

Now that door looks slammed closed.

CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig said that the Fulton County case might not ever happen after the ruling.

“Now there’s no way this case gets tried before the end of 2024, may not get tried ever if Donald Trump and the other defendants win on this appeal,” Honig said.

Democrats came into 2024 with high hopes that the lawfare against Trump was going to doom his Presidential campaign.

Special Counsel Jack Smith is watching his scam classified documents fall apart because he doesn’t have a biased Democrat judge in his corner.

Judge Alieen Cannon indefinitely postponed the case while both parties are working through pretrial motions.

That case has almost no chance of starting before the election.

Smith’s January 6 case is on hold while the Supreme Court considers Trump’s claim of Presidential immunity.

That case is also unlikely to start before the election.

Trump’s conviction in Manhattan doesn’t appear to be the game-changer for the election that Democrats hoped.

Democrats won’t be able to count on lawfare to change the dynamics of the campaign.
