Fani Willis is hoping that she can keep her witch hunt against Donald Trump.
She’s turning out to be her own worst enemy.
And Fani Willis slammed her fist in rage after this bad mistake came back to haunt her.
Fani Willis could get the boot by a Georgia appeals court
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing potential disqualification by the Georgia Court of Appeals.
She was caught hiring her lover Nathan Wade as a special prosecutor in her criminal case against former President Donald Trump and his associates for contesting Georgia’s 2020 Election results.
Wade took Willis on numerous luxury vacations with the money he billed taxpayers in the case.
Trump’s legal team is trying another front to get her disqualified for prosecutorial misconduct.
They argued that Willis should be disqualified because of “improper allegations of racism” she made during several public appearances talking about the case.
CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig said that it wouldn’t be surprising if Trump was successful in getting her thrown off the case.
“I think Trump has a decent chance on getting this case thrown out,” Honig stated. “And the focus of the brief that was filed last night, it’s important to remember, it’s not on the conflict of interest.”
“The focus here is on alleged prosecutorial misconduct by Fani Willis because, you’ll remember, she went in front of a church outside of court and made public statements blasting the defense lawyers, essentially accusing them of being racist,” Honig added.
Willis played the race card in a black church after a defense attorney for one of Trump’s co-defendants exposed her secret relationship with Wade.
The Trump legal team’s argument against Fani Willis
The Fulton County District Attorney going on a public tirade that was televised in a black jury was a big mistake according to Honig.
“Donald Trump’s claim here is that tainted the jury pool. The people who are going to be my juror and the jurors for the other defendants here all saw that and that’s going to incline them against us,” Honig explained. “And I think Trump’s got a real leg to stand on there. It wouldn’t at all shock me if the Georgia Court of Appeals agrees and says prosecutorial misconduct, this case is out.”
Honig was dumbfounded that Willis could make such a careless error as a prosecutor.
“When you talk about a case outside of a court as a prosecutor, you have to be really careful … When you start assailing the motives and suggesting that the defendants or the defense lawyers are racist, you are in really dangerous territory,” Honig said.
“The DA should know that. She’s an accomplished prosecutor,” Honig continued. “She’s been doing this for a long time. It’s still astonishing to me that she would have done what she did and now there may be consequences.”
Fani Willis came into the year with grand ambitions of throwing Donald Trump in jail.
Now, she’s watching her case implode because of her arrogance.
