Facebook just admitted to disturbing levels of censorship you wouldn’t believe

Social media sites are no longer playing the role of objective referee.

They have clearly taken a side in the political battle.

And Facebook just admitted to disturbing levels of censorship you wouldn’t believe.

Facebook has largely been quiet about their moderation guidelines, but amid pressure from intense media scrutiny, the company finally released its Content Distribution Guidelines (CDGs).

Beneath the intentionally vague language lies the method of Facebook’s biased censorship.

Two of the CDGs include “fact-checked misinformation” and “links to domains and pages with high ‘click-gap.’”

Fact-checking is a clear-cut way to censor conservatives because the “objective” fact-checking organizations are all markedly left-wing.

The Daily Wire reports:

Facebook has downgraded “Content that has been debunked as ‘False, Altered, or Partly False’ by non-partisan, third-party fact-checking organizations who partner with Facebook, and have been certified by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).” As we have detailed expansively at Daily Wire, fact-checking organizations routinely bias the topics they select, outlets they target, and ratings they give. This standard is Facebook’s way of laundering its own political judgments via selected Left-wing third parties who masquerade as “non-partisan,” like Politifact, Snopes, or FactCheck.org. Facebook explicitly acknowledges that it downgrades posts that include content labeled “Missing Context” – the Left-wing fact-checkers’ way of suppressing true content that damages Left-wing causes.

A recent example of the “missing context” escape hatch dealt with a story about Joe Biden callously checking his watch during the transfer ceremony for Marines who had been killed in Afghanistan.

The Associated Press labeled the claim as “false,” but after several gold-star families corroborated the claim, the AP amended their fact check to “missing context.”

Another CDG, “links to domains and pages with high ‘click-gap,’” means that small sites are unfairly punished because legacy media outlets like The New York Times aren’t nearly as reliant upon Facebook shares.

The Daily Wire continued:

Facebook explains, “Our research has shown that extreme disproportion in traffic-source can be a sign that the domain is succeeding on News Feed in a way that doesn’t reflect the authority that domain has built on the internet more broadly.” This is a perfect example of regulatory capture by monopolistic legacy media . . . Start-ups have used Facebook to market to audiences dissatisfied with precisely those legacy outlets because Facebook has billions of users. By punishing outlets for receiving too much traffic from Facebook, Facebook is discriminating against precisely those start-ups that have relied on Facebook to compete.

These are just two of the tools that Facebook uses to censor content that undermines the establishment.

These CDGs may give off the appearance of neutrality, but they are clearly being used to cudgel conservative and counter-narrative voices.
