Elon Musk has put the Left on pins and needles.
They desperately do not want to see him purchase Twitter.
And Musk’s bid to buy the social media giant just hit one major snag.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk sent shockwaves through the culture when he made an offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion and take the company private.
Musk’s goal was to restore Twitter as a free speech platform.
The Left tellingly were apoplectic about the deal, some even comparing the potential purchase to the fall of Weimar, Germany and the rise of the Nazis.
And the Left may have just gotten their wish as the Twitter deal has supposedly been held up.
The Washington Post reported that “Elon Musk’s deal to buy Twitter is in serious jeopardy, three people familiar with the matter say, as Musk’s camp concluded that Twitter’s figures on spam accounts are not verifiable. Musk’s team has stopped engaging in certain discussions around funding for the $44 billion deal, including with a party named as a likely backer, one of the people said.”
Musk recently said the deal was on “hold” until he could verify that only 5% of Twitter’s accounts were fake; Musk and his team believe the figure could be as high as 20%.
If one-fifth of Twitter consists of spam accounts, then that severely hinders the ability of Musk to monetize the platform.
Some have speculated that Musk could simply be attempting to drive down the purchase price, but the deal could indeed be on the ropes.
The Post added that “talks with investors have cooled in recent weeks as Musk’s camp has raised doubts about the recent data ‘fire hose’ — a trove of data sold to corporate customers — they received from Twitter. Musk’s team’s doubts about the spam figures signal they believe they do not have enough information to evaluate Twitter’s prospects as a business…’Twitter has not been cooperative,’ said a person familiar with the discussions…But focusing on bots plays into Musk’s hand, lowering Twitter’s stock price and potentially helping him force Twitter to renegotiate the deal at a lower price.”
The Left knows that Twitter is a left-wing platform that is openly biased toward conservatives, libertarians, and dissident liberals.
They want it to remain that way.
Twitter senior engineer Siru Murugesan got caught on candid camera admitting that Twitter is “commie as f*ck.”
Leftists cannot bear the idea of Twitter actually being a free speech platform, so they’re looking for any reason to scuttle Musk’s deal.
