In the Republican Presidential Primary, Nikki Haley emerged as the establishment choice to take on Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.
But Haley just failed miserably trying to walk back a damning proclamation.
And Elon Musk isn’t letting her hide from this campaign-killing admission.
GOP Presidential Primary heats up
With the Iowa caucus right around the corner, former President Donald Trump still maintains a massive lead in the GOP Presidential Primary.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appears to have a lock on second place, with DeSantis and Trump sharing the conservative-populist base of the party.
Now, with former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott out of the running, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has emerged as the country club Republican’s pick to represent the establishment.
RINOs will always point to electability in primaries – it’s supposedly what got John McCain and Mitt Romney their nominations in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
However, McCain and Romney both lost the general election to Barack Obama.
And now, Haley is trying to walk back a statement she made on national television that completely undercuts any chance she has of making the “electability” argument.
Nikki Haley puts her foot in her mouth
The former Governor of South Carolina was a guest on Fox News when she apparently forgot about the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution and took a page right out of President Joe Biden’s “Ministry of Truth” playbook.
You know who were anonymous writers back in the day? Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison when they wrote the Federalist Papers.
They were not "national security threats," nor are the many conservative Americans across the country who exercise their Constitutional… https://t.co/YkAGMhUVCX

As you can see in the above video, Haley is in favor of rounding up every American citizen and forcing them to register to use social media.
In other words, Haley says if she’s elected the 47th President of the United States, she will outlaw anonymous online speech.
As America’s Governor Ron DeSantis pointed out, America has a rich history of anonymous authors – for example, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison.
Of course, she cited supposed, “national security” as the reason for this infringement on free speech.
“When you do that, all of a sudden, people have to stand by what they say. And it gets rid of the Russian bots, the Iranian bots, and the Chinese bots,” Haley said. “Then you’re going to get some civility when people learn their name is next to what they say, and they know their pastor and their family members are going to see it. It’s going to help our kids.”
The argument she makes seems to be more about censoring speech than any type of legitimate national security concerns.
Haley begs for a mulligan
Haley was blasted all over social media for her nanny state proclamation.
And like the typical politician she is, seeing the political winds against her, Haley immediately tried to walk back her comments and make you forget she ever said it.
.@NikkiHaley incoherently attempts damage control
She repeats her plan to register all social media users by name
Then says "I don't mind Americans having anonymous free speech"
…if you force U.S. users to register their names, that makes "anonymous free speech" IMPOSSIBLE pic.twitter.com/xfzjzjDSLZ

“I don’t mind anonymous American people having free speech,” Haley claimed. “What I don’t like is anonymous Russians and Chinese and Iranians having free speech.”
Of course, what Haley either is too ignorant to understand or, more likely, believes you’re too dumb to understand is, if every American has to register their social media so she can catch Russian, Chinese, and Iranian bots – then there is zero anonymous speech for Americans either.
Elon Musk vs. Nikki Haley
Elon Musk noticed Haley trending all over the platform he owns and decided to make sure Haley isn’t able to memory hole her intention to end free speech in America.
Super messed up. She can stop pretending to run for president now.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 15, 2023
While dropping the mic on Haley, the world’s richest man also pointed out that she may have just killed her own Presidential campaign with a single sentence.
“Super messed up,” Musk tweeted. “She can stop pretending to run for president now.”
Eleven words that perfectly sum up what should happen when establishment RINOs like Haley say the quiet part out loud.
Only time will tell if Haley’s metropolitan elitist backing will propel her to big showings in Iowa and New Hampshire, or if the Republican Party base now disqualifies her from consideration.
