For years now the Left has invested heavily in so-called misinformation prevention, often under the guise of “fact-checking” among other schemes.
However, many of these attempts to police “misinformation” have been revealed as nothing more than censorship attempts, which many experts believe will ramp up again in the lead up to the 2024 elections.
And, Donald Trump rolled his eyes after catching wind of this California censorship scheme.
California Democrats are already starting to roll out their plans for 2024 “misinformation” prevention
In America, and all across the globe for that matter, the Left has paired up with large technology companies to police what they call “misinformation.”
This assault on so-called “misinformation” all began with the Left’s investment in fact-checking technology, which gained steam with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and later the 2020 election.
However, repeatedly medical experts and right-leaning politicians were flagged for spreading “misinformation” even if the information they spread was true or up for debate.
Unsurprisingly, California lawmakers are rolling out an exhaustive “anti-misinformation” campaign in 2024, with the hope of preventing so-called “misinformation” surrounding the 2024 election.
Leading the charge is the California Institute for Technology and Democracy (CITED,) which just unveiled a so-called “democracy advocacy group” called the California Common Cause, which will spearhead the assault on “misinformation.”
The executive director of California Common Cause, Jonathan Mehta Stein, issued a statement about this new program, saying, “AI and disinformation are an existential threat to our democracy and elections. As we all painfully know, Congress has not shown itself capable of advancing meaningful reforms to meet the challenges our democracy now faces. It falls to states like California to fill this dangerous leadership void.”
He added that, “Fortunately, we are uniquely positioned to meet this moment…CITED is the first entity of its kind, intentionally designed to protect our democracy in the modern age.”
Critics worry that this program will be used to target the political enemies of Jonathan Mehta Jones, who has an extensive resume working for radical far-left organizations such as the ACLU and Mother Jones.
Radical leftists have repeatedly abused “fact-checking” powers
Ever since the onset of the Left’s all-out assault on “misinformation”, tech companies and Democrat lawmakers have been allegedly caught abusing this power to censor voices hostile to their political agenda.
In the lead up to the 2020 elections for example, twitter removed a New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s laptop, which could have been very damaging to the Joe Biden administration.
Many believe that this was a coordinated effort with the federal government to prevent another Trump victory, and there are countless other examples of such collusion taking place at the expense of conservatives and others who stand in the way of the Left.
California’s latest plan to police so-called “misinformation” has millions of Americans sitting at the edge of their seat, waiting to see if this enormous power to regulate free speech will be abused.
