Donald Trump just schooled Gavin Newsom on how to actually help American workers

Leftists like to position themselves as warriors looking out for the working class.

In reality, there’s little more harmful to the working class than left-wing policies – look no further than Bidenomics.

But now Donald Trump is schooling Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom of California on how to actually help American workers.

California’s new minimum wage is killing jobs

For years, Democrats led the charge in the so-called, “fight for $15,” fictitiously claiming a $15 per hour minimum wage nationwide would help individuals and the economy as a whole.

However, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom and his cronies in the Democrat-controlled state legislature reacted by saying, “hold my Bud Light.”

Democrats in the state passed and Newsom signed into law a bill forcing national fast-food chains that operate restaurants in California to raise their minimum wage to $20 per hour.

The law took effect on April 1 of this year.

And, in a short amount of time, it has already had devastating consequences for Golden State workers.

Multiple Pizza Huts have reportedly eliminated delivery services.

140 Burger King locations announced they’re moving to self-ordering kiosk systems.

Rubio’s Coastal Grill filed for bankruptcy and closed 48 locations.

The Hoover Institute produced a study showing at least 9,500 employees lost their livelihoods just as of the end of April.

That number continues to climb.

California now has the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 5.3% — up from 4.7%.

Meanwhile, Californians are now paying more for food since Newsom’s artificial wage mandate became law.

For example, according to the National Review, prices surged at Wendy’s by 8%, by 7.5% at Chipotle, and 3% at Taco Bell.

Donald Trump’s new plan for tip workers

While Newsom’s plan has failed California workers, former President Donald Trump has a different idea on how to help working Americans.

The 45th President of the United States recently made a campaign stop in Las Vegas as part of a whirlwind west coast tour.

While in Sin City, Trump promised if elected to a second term in the White House, he would urge Congress to exempt taxes on tips for restaurant and hospitality workers.

“So, this is the first time I’ve said this, and for those hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,” Trump said. “We’re not going to do it, and we’re going to do that right away, first thing in office because it’s been a point of contention for years and years and years — and you do a great job of service, you take care of people. And I think it’s going to be something that is deserved — more importantly — popular or unpopular, I do some unpopular things too, if it’s right for the country, I do what’s right.”

While there are flaws in a plan to not tax certain types of earned income while taxing other types – Trump’s plan would be a benefit to tip workers without punishing businesses and consumers.

And it wouldn’t cost any of those tip workers their jobs like Newsom’s plan.

Can Trump win the swing state of Nevada?

Additionally, the move could help Trump score a victory in Nevada.

In 2020, Joe Biden won the Silver State by less than 2.5-points, and in 2016 Hillary Clinton won by about the same margin.

A Republican hasn’t won the state since 2004, when George W. Bush defeated John Kerry by, interestingly, about 2.5-points.

If Trump were able to upend Biden in Nevada this November, the state’s six electoral college points could go a long way to putting the former President back in the White House.
