Ron DeSantis is embroiled in a tough primary fight.
Donald Trump and the so-called mainstream media are aiming to take him out.
But DeSantis was thrown a wild curveball by Elon Musk hours before the first GOP debate.
Ron DeSantis is currently sitting at a distant second place in the Republican primary field.
He’s going up against a tough campaigner in Donald Trump, so he cannot afford major snafus.
But he got some stunning news when the pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down inexplicably got suspended on Twitter.
Matt Wolking, Never Back Down’s strategic communications director, believed that pro-Trump accounts “engaged in mass reporting” against the PAC’s account.
Wolking wrote, “X says it ‘seems like our automated systems incorrectly picked it up as ‘spam.’”
Wolking believed that Trump fans were behind it because of their celebration on Twitter.
He expounded, “Given their celebration, we have asked [X, formerly Twitter, and] Elon Musk to disclose whether these Trump-backed accounts and their affiliated bot network have recently engaged in mass reporting against the @NvrBackDown24 account in order to manipulate X’s rules.”
GOP campaigns drop the gloves with accusations of ‘mass reporting’
The account suspension occurred hours before the first primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Christina Pushaw, rapid response director for DeSantis’ campaign, also suspected online Trump supporters might have been behind the mass reporting.
Pushaw wrote, “BEYOND PARODY the same trolls who cry nonstop when they’re censored on social media are cheering for their opponents to be censored on social media. This is a well-worn Left Liberal tactic: When you can’t defeat your opponents in a debate, you hide in the basement and try to silence your opponents. If it’s true that Republicans are doing this now, shame on them.”
The primary fight between Trump and DeSantis turned ugly very quickly.
‘Mass reporting’ – a favored tactic used by Left-wing activists to silence Conservatives
Soon after Trump announced his candidacy following the 2022 Midterms, he began calling DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimous” because the Florida Governor did not affirmatively say he was not running for President.
Since then, Trump has attacked DeSantis from all sides.
For instance, Trump claimed that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo did a better job handling COVID than DeSantis.
Most believe that Trump is aiming most of his ire at DeSantis because he recognizes him as the biggest competitor.
The Democrat-controlled media are aligned with Trump because they don’t like DeSantis, either.
DeSantis now finds himself battling both Trump and the press.
