Leftists like to think they’re the final word on the direction of American culture.
They lose it when influential figures in entertainment or media go against the grain.
So Dennis Quaid dropped jaws when he socked Mark Zuckerberg with one demand he never dreamed he’d be confronted with.
Facebook has come under fire for allegedly attempting to silence promotions for this highly anticipated film
On July 13, 2024, Donald Trump narrowly escaped death, exhibiting tremendous bravery and strength.
Support for Donald Trump swelled following this failed assassination attempt, forcing many on the Left to find creative ways to quell this surge of Trump zeal.
In the media for example, many Big Tech platforms such as Facebook came under fire for improperly censoring pictures from the Butler rally, labeling legitimate pictures as misleading or false.
Soon after these censorship attempts became widely known, Mark Zuckerberg spoke with Donald Trump personally, apologizing for these instances.
However, it appears as if Mark Zuckerberg and his cronies at Meta, which owns both Facebook and Instagram, have not learned a single thing.
Last week, for example, actor Dennis Quaid revealed that Facebook has allegedly silenced promotions for his new film, Reagan.
This film depicts the life and triumphs of Ronald Reagan, who many Americans agree served as one of the most widely liked and successful Presidents in modern American history.
Quaid, who stars as Ronald Reagan himself, claims that Facebook has not allowed promotional ads and content to spread on its platform, which could hinder the success of this highly anticipated film.
In an email to Newsweek, Quaid jabbed at Facebook, telling the publication, “Facebook is once again censoring the free flow of ideas, deciding what’s best for us to see and hear; only this time it’s throttling advertising and promotion for my movie about Ronald Reagan.”
“Freedom of expression and a free market are what Americans are known for. Reagan said that the freedoms that we take for granted can be lost in a generation. Censorship like this, coupled with our silent assent is a cautionary indication that we could be in danger of losing those freedoms,” the Reagan star added in his letter.
These remarks coincide with a letter from Eric McClellan, the director of digital marketing for Reagan, that he sent to Mark Zuckerberg himself.
In the letter, McClellan asked why this alleged censorship happened to his film, which depicts the triumphs of a prolific Republican president.
He added that during the promotion process, the marketing company Reagan used said that they faced pushback from Facebook, which stated that the promotion material “mentions politicians or is about sensitive issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation.”
Stopping the free flow of speech has become a top priority for Tech giants like Meta
When Facebook first rose to popularity, many hailed the platform as a genius way to facilitate the flow of free speech.
However, time has shown that widely used platforms such as Facebook open the door for censorship plans, which usually target the Right.
This determination to censor the right became even more obvious during the 2020 elections and has persisted to this very day, as evidenced by the handling of the Trump assassination and the silencing of Reagan.
