Nothing has united Democrats as much over the last few years as their hatred of Donald Trump.
Democrats have not given up on Donald Trump as their main target.
Now, Democrats are using Nancy Pelosi’s witch hunt to do something truly disturbing.
The January 6th House Select Committee continues to drag out their show trial against Donald Trump.
There is no adversarial process to speak of.
No defense witnesses have been allowed to speak, and Nancy Pelosi broke custom and refused to allow GOP leadership to select its own members for the committee.
Instead, Pelosi selected Never-Trumpers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, two people who are months away from being finished in Republican Party politics, so she could claim it was “bipartisan” while ensuring the deck is stacked against Donald Trump.
But the Democrats are also using January 6 for another purpose other than just trying to prevent a Trump 2024 campaign.
They’re attempting to broaden out the scope, not only to punish other Republicans, but to shame and guilt businesses into divesting from the GOP.
Andrew Ross Sorkin wrote in The New York Times, “Whatever your politics, yesterday’s testimony by a former White House aide about President Donald Trump’s actions on Jan. 6 was deeply disturbing. And yet you will most likely hear only one thing from the business community in the coming days: silence.”
The “deeply disturbing” testimony was that of former aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who made wild claims about Trump lunging at the steering wheel of the presidential limo in order to go to the Capitol on January 6th.
Hutchinson’s claims were refuted by the Secret Service agents who were actually there, but they have not been called before the J6 committee to testify because this is a show trial.
Sorkin is upset that companies are not getting active and supporting the Democratic narrative.
He continued, “Several C.E.O.s I spoke with pointed to various polls showing that Trump remains popular — in many cases, more popular than President Biden. Others fear being labeled ‘woke,’ and worry about being targeted by outspoken Republicans like Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, who was once seen as a friend of business but who has aggressively targeted companies that are out of step with his views. But here is my question for business leaders: After years of talking about moral courage, where is yours?”
It’s amusing that Sorkin is surprised that Trump is more popular than Biden, who has been a disastrous president.
He also mischaracterizes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
It was businesses, namely Disney, that attempted to impose their will on the people of Florida through the political process.
Sorkin wants businesses to exhibit “moral courage” and get behind an obvious sham hearing that only serves the Democrat Party.
Sorkin wants companies under the thumb of the Democrat Party.
So he is openly calling for fascism.
