Now he has a new reason to chuckle.
And Democrats are sweating after one Chris Rock prediction proves true.
Democrats desperately wish comedian Chris Rock would get canceled.
But the outspoken comedian is not only continuing to perform for fans, he also has plenty of new material thanks to those on the Left who keep blowing off his advice.
Before Donald Trump’s indictment from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg ever came down, Chris Rock warned that Democrats wanting to get Trump arrested was an approach guaranteed to backfire.
“Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?” Rock reportedly asked at a Washington, D.C. event to honor Adam Sandler who received the Mark Twain Prize.
Move will fuel popularity
“Do you know this is only going to make him more popular? It’s like arresting Tupac,” he said referring to the infamous rapper Tupac Shakur whose short and violent life of crime only fueled his popularity.
The Daily Mail reported on the Rock’s wisecrack noting that several officials from the Biden administration were among those in the Kennedy Center crowd.
Now they may be wishing they’d taken his advice seriously.
Within 24 hours of his indictment announcement, Trump’s reelection campaign raked in $4 million dollars.
While the New York Post gleefully noted that “Trump could be elected president, govern from prison,” leftist organizations started hitting the panic button.
The Atlantic noted that Trump’s legal troubles could rally Republicans like nothing the former president could accomplish on his own.
“For another politician it would signal the end of a political career. In Mr. Trump’s case, the question is to what extent a prosecution will act as fuel for a movement that seemed to be flagging,” the news outlet admitted.
Conservative Real America’s Voice host David Brody says the move will likely cost Democrats more than they realize at this point—as even some members of their own party are tempted to push back.
“It would be a mistake to think that the indictment of Donald Trump ONLY fired up the MAGA base. No. This will help Trump with blue collar independents and Soft D’s in the Rustbelt and Heartland,” Brody wrote in a Tweet.
“These are the exact voters who propelled Trump to the Presidency in key swing states,” he added. “So remember this isn’t just about Republicans getting fired up about this.”
No doubt, the more working-class Americans perceive that elitist Democrats are trying to shut them down, the more support they’ll throw to the other side.
