Silicon Valley has been a hub of left-wing censors in recent years.
Elon Musk sent major waves through the Big Tech-Big Government censorship regime when he bought Twitter.
But now this other major tech company founded by Musk is facing massive blowback for a chilling censorship scheme.
In the past, companies often avoided taking overt political stances to prevent alienating large customer bases.
Those days are long gone, and now many companies take it upon themselves to play a direct role in politics, most often supporting the radical Left.
PayPal slammed for censoring conservatives on their platform
Over the last couple of decades, PayPal—which was founded by Elon Musk as X.com in 1999 before he sold it to eBay in 2002—has cemented itself as one of the most widely used digital payment platforms in the world.
PayPal completely transformed the way people pay for things, and today billions of people can say they have used PayPal or are at least familiar with the platform.
But much like other large tech platforms, in recent years, PayPal has made the decision to play politics instead of just simply providing a convenient service.
More specifically, throngs of prominent conservatives are saying that they have been mysteriously banned from the platform likely due to their political stance.
Corynne McSherry, who is the legal director at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, told Fox News recently that “For a decade I’ve been watching content moderation at the platform level go terribly awry. Now, more and more we’re watching the same problems … in other parts of the internet stack. It’s not just PayPal, several of the major payment processors have been playing an increasing role in policing online speech.”
She then went on to say, “When they make decisions about whether they’re going to process payments for you, that can mean that your business is going under. That can mean that you will not survive because there’s no money coming in.”
This is extremely concerning, especially if you are a conservative who uses one of the many digital payment platforms out there like PayPal.
Big Tech is making it its mission to stamp out conservatives from their platforms
One thing has become very clear in recent months and years, and that is conservatives are not welcome on most tech platforms.
Instead of providing a service to a large customer base, companies like PayPal are instead choosing to police free speech in order to appease the radical Left.
But at the end of the day, this is a very unwise business practice, as it will turn millions of potential customers away from the platform, and cause competing platforms to gain these customers.
Perhaps this is why many Big Tech companies are seeing their stocks plunge in recent months.
Moving forward, conservatives should stop using PayPal and other services that actively censor conservatives and conservative organizations on their platforms.
If PayPal is not going to tolerate customers who do not fall in line with its radical world view, then conservatives should not be giving them a dime.
