Democrats all think they’re the smartest person in every room, not to mention, funny and super witty.
And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) takes that vanity to a whole new level, bearing her horsey teeth at all her own jokes.
But AOC’s giggle disappeared quickly after she picked one fight she could never be ready for.
Elon Musk is already ruffling feathers as the new owner of Twitter.
Prominent leftists are already vowing to leave the platform.
But Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) apparently thinks she is so witty that she planned to “own” the Twitter new owner, after Elon Musk followed through on buying Twitter and taking the company private.
Musk was fed up with the culture of censorship that had developed among old ownership, and he wanted to do something about it.
Musk plans to charge blue checkmarks
Now that Musk owns the company, he needs to make it profitable, and one of his plans is to charge users $8 per month in order to have a “verified user” blue checkmark.
In the past, the blue checkmarks were doled out arbitrarily—reserved for celebrities and “mainstream” journalists—but Musk wants to open up the verification identifier for everyone.
Right on cue, the blue-checkmark liberals went berserk.
Congresswoman Alexanria Ocasio-Cortez was particularly worked up over the new policy.
She tweeted, “Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually a $8/mo subscription plan.”
Her argument makes no sense.
Left-wing public figures like Ocasio-Cortez cannot fathom being on Twitter without their blue checkmark verification badge of honor.
Meanwhile, right-wing accounts with tons of followers struggled to get verified, or were flat-out rejected.
The Christian satire site The Babylon Bee was denied a blue checkmark for months despite having close to 1 million followers.
Coincidentally, The Bee getting suspended for a joke was the impetus for Musk endeavoring to buy Twitter.
Musk cheekily responded to Ocasio-Cortez, “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.”

Musk later responded with a hilarious tweet that showed how much she charges for merchandise on her website.

The Twitter account Libs of TikTok claimed that all of the proceeds from Ocasio-Cortez’s merch goes to her campaign coffers; none goes to charity, as she claimed.
Far-Left novelist Stephen King also balked at paying for blue checkmark status; the initial proposal was $20.
King tweeted, “$20 a month to keep my blue check? F*ck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron,” to which Musk replied, “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
The $8 price point for a blue checkmark has sent the Left into a furor, and Musk continues to poke them.
In an exchange with a CNN contributor, Musk simply replied, “$8.”

Musk also pointed out that the outraged liberals are willing to pay $8 for coffee at Starbucks, but $8 for a beloved blue checkmark is a bridge too far.
