With his purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk landed himself right in the middle of the political fray.
Congressman Adam Schiff is still trying to manage the upheaval Musk’s Twitter takeover caused in his career.
Now Schiff really thinks he has an ax to grind after what Elon Musk just did to give him hurt feelings.
When Elon Musk – a self-described “free speech absolutist” – took over Twitter, he started collecting piles of information and releasing it to the public through independent journalists.
One recent information drop revealed that the former Intelligence committee chairman’s requests shocked even Twitter censors.
Adam Schiff is losing his mind over what happened at the Capitol – and its not January 6 for once
The fact that information was revealed around the same time Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was kicked off the Intelligence committee by GOP Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) had to sting.
But it seems what pushed Schiff over the edge was what happened when Mr. Musk went to Washington.
While buying Twitter cost him his title as the world’s richest man, he remains the wealthiest in America and has clearly become a force to be reckoned with as someone with a vast reach when it comes to communicating with the masses.
Which may be why Politico reported that Musk snubbed Democrats during a tour of the US House.
“Elon Musk’s unannounced, whirlwind tour of Capitol Hill last week had a number of high-profile stops: A happy birthday visit to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and a sit-down with GOP firebrand Rep. Jim Jordan, among others. He even met with White House officials to talk electric cars,” Politico reported. “One thing it didn’t include: Congressional Democrats.”
The publication went on to browbeat the billionaire pointing out that, “there are risks to taking sides so brazenly. For one, Democrats still control the Senate, and, of course, the political winds in Washington can turn on a dime, leaving allies on the outs and previously spurned lawmakers in positions of power.”
However Musk did meet – albeit reportedly un-planned – briefly with Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
It “was actually an unscheduled run-in, according to Jeffries’ office,” House reported.
Schiff wasn’t impressed.
Or maybe miffed that he didn’t get a meeting at all.
Whatever the case, Schiff blasted the new Twitter CEO claiming that Musk is running the social media platform “into the ground.”
Rep. Schiff also claimed that Musk’s acquisition of Twitter “seems like a vanity project that is going wrong with an explosion of hate speech on that platform.”
This latest meltdown is the latest in an ongoing escalation between Musk—who announced he would vote Republican last year—and Democrats.
Losing control of one of the biggest tools Democrats had to shape the overall political narrative was a huge loss for them.
But thus far it’s been a major win for free-speech advocates everywhere.
Establishment elites and so-called “Permanent Washington, D.C.” are furious that Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion dollars in a bid to gain more control over what he says has become the modern equivalent of the public square.
So there’s no telling what kind of plans they’ll roll out to shift the balance back in their favor.
