The IRS has been stockpiling massive amounts of weapons and ammunition ahead of its newfound power.
Over the course of 3 months, this year the IRS spent $700,000 on ammunition while Democrats were in the midst of a massive gun control push.
The IRS has stockpiled $11 million worth of ammunition over the past decade while the agency’s budget was cut.
Currently, the IRS has more than 5 million rounds of ammunition stockpiled for 2,148 agents working in IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division.
Those agents have 4,461 guns including 15 fully automatic rifles according to a Government Accountability Office report.
Ahead of a possible major new enforcement push funded by Democrats, the IRS is being militarized.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is trying to shut down this terrifying militarization of the IRS against taxpayers with a new bill.
The Disarm the IRS Act would ban the agency from purchasing ammunition to add to its already massive stockpile.
“Call me old-fashioned, but I thought the heaviest artillery an IRS agent would need would be a calculator,” Gaetz said. “I imagine the IRS in green eyeshades and cubicles — not busting doors down and emptying Glock clips on our fellow Americans.”
“Certainly, it’s troubling that in 2022 alone, the IRS has spent around $725,000 on ammunition. So here’s the Biden plan: Disarm Americans, open the border, empty the prisons — but rest assured, they’ll still collect your taxes, and they need $725,000 worth of ammunition, apparently, to get the job done,” said Gaetz.
