Joe Biden and his lackeys have no issues weaponizing the government against political opponents.
Their latest move may be their most underhanded yet.
But a Republican watchdog just lowered the boom on a top Biden general’s Soviet-style scheme.
The left is hell-bent on trying to discredit any conservative or independent that punches a hole in their narrative.
NewsGuard is a leftist company that “rates” websites based on how reliable they consider their content.
In practice, NewsGuard acts as a way to discredit and police conservative media by claiming which sites are reliable and which can’t be trusted.
U.S. Cyber Command is the Defense Department’s main organization of protecting the country from cyber threats.
They handed NewsGuard a $750,000 contract to assist with the Defense Department’s “Misinformation Fingerprints” project.
The Misinformation Fingerprints project was a massive new government censorship scheme launched under Joe Biden.
It aims to create “a catalogue of known hoaxes, falsehoods and misinformation narratives that are spreading online.”
According to NewsGuard, the project will use artificial intelligence (AI) to combat misinformation in real time.
With the goal of helping the Defense Department “evaluate disinformation narrative themes in near real time by identifying online sources spreading COVID-19 disinformation or misinformation narratives, understanding the nature and possible motives of those sources, and flagging hoaxes, narratives, and sources of disinformation as they emerge.”
Biden’s Defense Department was teaming up with one of the most biased leftwing attack dogs to combat “misinformation.”
Misinformation is any speech that the Left doesn’t like and smearing it as such paints the target for censorship.
Republican Congressman Jim Banks of Indiana is blowing the whistle on this state-sponsored censorship scheme.
Banks sent a letter to General Paul Nakasone the head of US Cyber Command asking him to preserve documents related to NewsGuard’s “Misinformation Fingerprints” database.
He said, “Restoring political neutrality to the Department of Defense will remain a priority for me during the 118th Congress.”
“U.S. Cyber Command has used Misinformation Fingerprints to ‘monitor content containing state-sponsored mis- and disinformation and to identify the main sources publishing known false narratives’,” Banks stated.
“The Misinformation Fingerprints program allows A.I. and machine learning software to monitor and suppress stories and media outlets that NewsGuard has decided are false and unreliable,” he continued.
“The problem is that NewsGuard has an extreme partisan bias. NewsGuard’s co-CEO, Steve Brill, claimed there’s ‘a high likelihood that this [Hunter Biden laptop] story is a hoax, maybe even a hoax perpetrated by the Russians’,” Banks explained.
“NPR and the New York Times both received a 100/100 credibility rating from NewsGuard, after dismissing the New York Post’s verified reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop,” he remarked.
“The Department of Defense’s financial support for the partisan suppression of political speech is an unacceptable and un-American abuse of taxpayer dollars,” he added.
Banks also noted that NewsGuard employee’s overwhelmingly supported Democrats.
The latest revelation about the Misinformation Fingerprints database is yet another sign of Biden’s support for a government censorship campaign.
