It’s not unusual to hear a social media influencer or even some celebrities complain about a change in the “algorithm.”
The Big Tech giants like Facebook, Instagram, and others will often change up a platform’s algorithm, so users see different posts in their feeds based on a series of instructions created by programmers, not just the most recent post from those they follow.
Well, a former Google employee just outed the company over this change in the algorithm.
No doubt, when Facebook or Instagram decides to change up its algorithm, it often hurts the little guy most.
Many small businesses suffer when these changes happen because the Big Tech giants put in some fancy coding that makes their posts not as relevant, therefore, not as easy for people to view.
And usually, just about the time the small guys have figured out the new algorithm and can make it work for them, Zuckerberg changes it again.
It’s a rare instance when a celebrity or uber-popular influencer is adversely affected by a change in a platform’s algorithm.
Big Tech whistleblower Zach Vorhies is exposing how Google changed its algorithms to target then President Donald Trump.
Vorhies has a new book out, Google Leaks: A Whistleblower’s Expose. In it, the former Google and YouTube employee details how Big Tech actually celebrated their attempts to redirect the truth during the 2016 election and how exactly they did it.
“One of the things that most people noticed was one of the questions that was asked by the audience. Which asked [Google CEO] Sundar Pichai what Google had done best during the 2016 election. To which Sundar replied, that it was the use of machine learning in order to censor the fake news,” said Vorhies.
During an interview with Epoch Times, Vorhies details how the algorithms were trained by techs at Google who had specific biases on what they believed to be fake or misleading news.
So, if the tech training the algorithm didn’t like Donald Trump, then you can likely figure out on your own what news was suppressed from people’s Google feeds.
According to Vorhies, Google’s algorithm also attached negative stories about Trump onto old stories to keep them trending at the top of the search results.
For years, most have known that Big Tech is manipulating data so it can decide what people read and what they don’t read.
Now that the curtain has been pulled back, there is no telling what else will be discovered.
One thing’s for sure though, Zach Vorhies will likely be finding himself censored very soon.
